4.1 AVERAGE

Bryan Lee O'Malley once again delivers to his fans a tale of absurd yet completely relatable adventure plagued with the same adolescent awkwardness and self-discovery found in his "Scott Pilgrim" series. The story is complimented, expectedly with beautiful artwork and an immersive setting.

Bryan Lee O'Malley can do some amazing stuff with sequential art. I have been collecting the Scott Pilgrim books and plan to read them when I have them all.

But I took a look at Seconds, and it is a fascinating read. I thought it was just going to be about the travails of a restaurant owner, but O'Malley throws in just enough supernatural and twisted reality to make a great story.

A fun book, with great art.

Highly recommended.

A very predictable yet captivating story of second chances and unfulfilled dreams.

This was another reread for me but I still love it all the same. Definitely a book to read if you feel like you wish thing were different. I’ll always have special place in my heart for this book

Adorable! I absolutely loved the art, I thought this story was so cute and easy to fly through. There were more twists than I could anticipate and I really liked how things panned out. This was my first graphic novel but I'll definitely be picking up more.

Reread: still good, love it

Time travel and multiverses? Angsty 20-somethings learning about adulting? Superstitions and folk magic? This one has it all in a fast-paced story with some unexpected turns; the protagonist is not entirely like-able, nor does she make good choices, but she is believable. This is no Persepolis or Habibi (nor does it aspire to be), but it is still a fun graphic novel romp.

Loved My First Graphic Novel

I've been hearing a lot about graphic novels lately from some of the booktubers I follow. I've never delved into graphic novels but recently I've been excited to start getting into them. This graphic novel comes highly recommended by Kat @ Katytastic as well! The only comics I've read before are some of The Walking Dead series because I'm a huge fan of the show. However, I didn't get very far because I wanted to avoid spoilers for the show.

When my coworker found out I was looking for a graphic novel recommendation, she recommended Seconds to me and lent me her copy. It's a hardcover book and it's gorgeous! I love that the dust jacket isn't the full height of the book, which gives the cover a really cool effect.

I wasn't sure what to expect from this graphic novel going into it, considering my graphic novel experience is limited. In the end I really enjoyed it! It was quick and I read it in two sittings. The story has a bit of a whimsical feel, but it definitely has a darker side to it, which I wasn't expecting. I even had a creepy dream the night I read the first half the story, - silly me.

The protaganist Katie is quite the character - so fun and spunky. The story has an element of time travel in it (which I of course loved) and I was very entertained at the effects of each change she made on her life and her relationships. I enjoyed the two side characters and felt they added an extra layer of interesting to the story. My favorite part of this graphic novel was the overall message of the story. This graphic novel took a really fantastic message about life and delivered it in the form of a funny (but still slightly serious) graphic novel. It's a fun read that I recommend!

What's your favorite graphic novel or comic?

Had so much fun, beginning to end, with Seconds!!
Seriously, I think I'm still stupidly smiling :D

It was so good!!! I'm a huge fan of Scott Pilgrim and I was very happy to see the little links in this one!

This was a very interesting story. I can't wait to read other things by Bryan Lee O'Malley!

Written by the London Ontario born, Korean-French-Canadian, Bryan Lee O’Malley of Scott Pilgrim fame, it focuses on a chef and reality bending magic mushrooms in a color soaked Canadian manga. It’s my wheelhouse.
