I finished this book about five minutes ago and I have been left utterly speechless. The Whispers and the Roars took me on an emotional ride and I loved every minute of it. I discovered this book on TikTok and I went into it completely blind like what was recommended and I’m so happy I did. Knowing any spoilers would have ruined the entire story for me.
I absolutely loved the authors trigger warnings at the beginning and the Spotify playlist at the end. Some great additions to the story!

10/26/21 update---- this needs 5. I'm still thinking about how well this book was done.
I really liked this- it was different. I went in blind as previous readers and the author suggested and I think I enjoyed it more because of that.
Predictable but well done and enjoyable.

My favorite books are the ones where I don’t see the twist coming. Where the secrets stay hidden because I can’t figure them out.
At first I couldn’t get into this book. I was confused and lost. But I held on because of the blurb. I wanted something different, something that would challenge me. And man did this challenge me!
Once the secrets were let out I was shocked! I was caught by complete surprise. And that made me so happy that I didn’t figure anything out before hand. One thing I hate in books is where I figure out the twists or secrets before they’re revealed.
I had no clue with this book and for that reason it has become a top favorite of mine.

let me just say this- this book was not what i expected. and i loved every second of it. Yeo was such a devoted character and i don't think i've ever read one more amazing than him. he did everything for Kady and her family. i really enjoyed the ride getting to know this little group of people from Morgantown!
K Webster really knows how to write them! don't even get me started on the Badass Motherf*cker that is Bones!

This is my third book by this author. I was hooked from the start, and can’t wait to read her entire collective works.
Who might enjoy this book?:
People who like psychological books
Overview:
I found this book very hard to review. At the beginning I thought about putting it down and shelving it as DNF. I didn’t understand what was happening and I was slightly bored.
Then I got to the middle where the big reveal was, and it started to tie together and was really good. Then I got to the end and I was slightly disappointed because it wasn’t believable to me.
So- I’m very conflicted on how I should rate, and feel that a 3 star rating out of 5 stars is fair. Although I really wanted to give it 4 stars, the issues I had with the “bread”’of the book kept it from getting that extra star. But I acknowledge that is has the potential to vary from reader to reader.
I do however still recommend going into this blind, and not trying to figure out the twist as it makes it more enjoyable. With that being said- I figured out what was happening within the first 50 pages or so as it was obvious to me, but may not be as noticeable to other readers.
Just keep reading even if you feel like you’re missing something, wait- and you will understand!
I feel like the character of Kady was not fleshed out very well compared to other characters such as Yeo and Bones. There was so much ground work put into every character but her, which is sad since ultimately she’s what the book is about. I saw no reason for Yeo to have such an interest in her.

Another book tok flop. This book was not enjoyable and the twist wasn’t done very well.
