I going to say, though the author recommends going into this blind, I really really wish I’d had a better synopsis of the shape of it and the actual plot happening - both for triggers, and understanding the details of what I was reading. And that the author kept asking us not to leave detailed reviews left a bad taste in my mouth - those of us who seek them out do so for any number of reasons, but ALL being that we need those details. Readers who don’t want to be spoiled aren’t the ones looking for triggers or synopsis details and there was an icky amount of judgment in K’s parting author’s note about that I cannot condone. This is the review I wish I’d have had going into this, spoilers and all
You’ve been warned, though the most blatant ones regarding major plot twists are under spoiler bars as a courtesy.
I don’t love stories that unfold with narrative mysteries and this one, where instead ofmultiple characters you have one character with nine multiple personalities was hard to swallow without that context. The absolutely horrible child abuse, molestation, spousal abuse, and self harm also really could have done with noted and visible triggers for *me*.
That said, this unconventional soul mate love story was beautiful. It just wasn’t something I think a mood reader like me could pick up or should pick up without MUCH more context and spoilers, for my own mental health.
Yeo is a fantastic boyfriend. Absolutely god tier level dedicated to his girl even with her own unique challenges and painful past. Kady and the fam are quirky and sweet and then bittersweet, and Kush was a delight while also being incisive and truly helpful for Kady in a way Yeo couldn’t be.
So many good things about this unusual romance - but understanding from the drop that this story is about aterribly abused young woman with multiple personality disorder from coping with that trauma and the boyfriend she drove off was actually in regular contact with her the entire time he went to med school to try and understand her, and love her, better? That would have been very very useful for me enjoying the first half of this book.

Um.. um.. triggers. This story has a lot of triggers that many will not be able to handle. So turn away now if you can't handle it.
If you are the few like me that braved this thought provoking, heartbreaking love story you're in for a wild ride. And I'll see you on the other side.
It won't be easy and it won't be fun all the time but when you see the beauty break through; your heart will sing along with your soul. You will cry! I mean heartbreaking cries that will leave you emotionally raw. But the end game is all worth it.
Beauty lies at the end even in darkness.
I can't explain Yeo or Kadence to you. You have to experience them to understand them. Life is never clean cut. It's twisted and at times heartbreaking but when it's good. It's really good.
Webster takes you into the bowels of mental and physical abuse. Abuse that sickening to the point you want to puke.
Nothing written here is for shock value; it's a deep understanding that strength and healing comes from walking in the shadows and facing the demons that live there head on. She explains how no one can go it alone. You have to have love and support to heal.
It won't be easy. And it won't be fast. But it will be worth it.
So if you can see beauty in the shadows, love from a far and understanding where most won't. Read this book.

This is one of the most amazing books....
This is an amazing book. Not gonna lie, I was a little confused at the beginning when all these characters were being mentioned. When I figured out what was going on it was quite the twist for me. Not many books deal with mental illness very well or write it very well, and this was done amazingly well. Definitely worth the read.

My take on star rating system reviews:
one - don’t read it.
two - not for me but you might look into it, I may or may not have DNF
three - mediocre nothing to say about it.
four - I completed reading and enjoyed the experience whether story line or writing
five - I felt extreme emotions while reading and was left with a lasting impression / reading this book gave me a new outlook on life (whether momentarily or not)
Obviously I have many thoughts on books I read, but for me to tell you to read or not read a book is difficult! Even “bad” reading experiences can be rewarding.
This book has a special bias for me because I was in a relationship with someone who has schizophrenia (I know it’s different but there were some similarities) It was a very difficult situation as I was young and didn’t understand it. This is why I felt emotionally compelled to give it a four star rating in addition to really simply enjoying the reading experience and the discovery of the different personalities.
