It's great to see how Mac, Barrons, and the Fae come to life on the pages of this book! The artwork is amazing! The book gives a bit of summary of the Fever Series. Although, if you have not read the Fever Series, there may not be quite enough background for you to understand everything. Then, a new story begins, which tided me over while I wait for Iced to come out!
A short but sweet read for Moning/Fever Series fans!

I really liked this little untold slice of Shadowfever and the visuals will act as nice mental picture the next time I am listening to the books. I really liked seeing an idea of what Barron's beast looks like.
I know this was more of an after thought in terms of the series, but it is a little weird for bad things to happen to several of the minor characters and then in the books we never hear of it but... My only real complaint(s) are minor in that it seemed like Mac changed outfits from one page to the next with no real indication that a day had passed and that I didn't understand why of the Seelie Fae she used Velvet and not V'lane. All in all worth checking out if you love Karen Marie's Fever series.

I had this book on my Christmas wishlist for several years before I got it, and then it sat in my house for several more years before I read it. Many years. I'm just not a graphic novel person, but I think more than that, I am specifically not a fan of this one. So sorry because I know KMM loved this and the artist and all of the things, but... it doesn't fit the characters or the feelings I have about the series (which I have always loved.) Mac is drawn like a warrior porn queen, which isn't at all how I have been picturing her. Innocent girl to strong woman, YES, but her portrayal is just too much. Same with Barrons--he is such a fascinating character is because you never know quite what he's thinking, but you do know that he's not really ONLY a badass jerk. He is condensed into just his rougher side here. Yes, he shows that he is willing to do a big thing for Mac because she cares a lot about something, but it's not like he was going to do something he didn't already want to do, so the impact is not great enough to soften the effect. Writing it out, I guess I am saying that I didn't like this because they were caricatures of themselves--just MORE of everything, to get their personalities across in images. Maybe that would have worked for me if I hadn't read the series previously.
Still. I'm leaving it as 2 stars because, as always, the world/story is great. I enjoyed the section with the Unseelie King and his mortal lover, and there were bits here and there that were fun to see.

4.5 stars. I really enjoy this series, especially books 4 and 5. This is a story that takes place during a time already shown in the Fever books, but it is something that we never see, although all the characters are familiar. I loved seeing the artistic rendering of the characters, and comparing how I saw them in my head.
I love graphic novels, although they tend to be a bit too short for me. I really wanted this to go on longer. I hope there is another graphic novel set in this world.

Since this is a comic graphic novel, I'll read it now. :P I was shocked it was kinda thick. I mean long. But well, I looked at the first page... I saw MACHALO!!!! :D I just had to laugh. :)
OH! This is SO GRAPHIC. :D I need to read it alone cause it's kinda R-18. :D
I like this graphic novel! But I'm a bit confused. Is Mac blonde again? I can't remember when did she colored her hair back. And when did this occur? It's kinda confusing cause Mac already knew the true nature of Barrons. >_<
But overall, I really liked it.

That was a short fun story. It feels weird to see the characters come to life through art.
I'm not really a fan of graphic novels, or comic books... But I bought this one because I'm already invested in Moning's Fever world. That being said, I genuinely enjoyed this book, and I think if she were to try for another in the future, I would likely buy it.
This was an interesting experience for me. I never read graphic novels, mainly because I tend to REALLY dislike the artwork style. The same goes even for traditional comic books. I think I've just been spoiled by gorgeous manga artwork, and American graphic novels just seem way too harsh and bright. But I can't NOT read anything by KMM, so I didn't really have a choice. I figured I'd just slog through the artwork and focus on the story.
But the harsh lines and overly bright colors fit so perfectly into the Fever world. It's not a pretty, gentle place. It's rough around the edges, it's cruel, and I don't think my preferred style of art would have worked nearly so well.
I will say I was a bit disappointed at the ending. Mac's final battle with the Fear Dorcha was just...anticlimactic. The way she won almost didn't make any sense to me, and I was left feeling like I completely missed something. I'm hoping if I read it again it'll fall into place better. But overall, I enjoyed it a lot more than I thought I would, and it definitely put me in the mood for her new series in October!
