Love Grim

I love this story. At some points the plot slowed a little but it didn't bother me that much. I hope there is a sequel with the story of Rebecca and Callen.

I little too long; there are some details that probably weren’t needed and some redundancy. However, I could not put this book down for anything...

Major pacing issues, conflicting world building, and the FMC is horribly judgmental of the alien females without considering what a 1:200 population ratio means for them.

The plot was rather good and interesting.

The editing, or rather , the nonexistent editing caused me a bit of struggle and re-reading paragraphs because of wrong words being used as well as extra words turning up where they don't belong. I also found some grammatical errors.

Oh man....This book had such a good concept with great characters...well from what I could decipher. The writing would have been good if the author had gotten an editor...Or really, just re-reading each page after to write it....It made it sometimes unreadable because the author used words that just didn't make sense.

For example, TRANSACTION for the word...wait for it....CONTRACTION... Totally killed the scene.

There were missing punctuation marks which really irked me since I didn't know if someone was talking or thinking what was on the page....I Wish M.K. Eidem can somehow find an editor! The story and beautiful world was shrouded by stupid mistakes...

Grim was a great character except in the beginning he'd be beating himself up for things that were seriously NOT his fault and that got me annoyed. Lisa was an alright female character. I think her having her daughters made her more likeable since you got to see how much love she has.

One thing that really irked me was how quick they fell in love. It honestly did not make sense. I was mind-boggled. I get that she was in a new world with no one except for her two daughters and Grim watching over her but wouldn't you be freaking out that you're on an alien planet and your with an alien....not falling in love with the first second you lay your eyes on him... I was at a loss! And they did not have conflicts as a couple...AT ALL, which I don't get. They never fought and if they did...it would be resolved in the same page, which means it wasn't a conflict. I get that there is a bigger problem at hand but come on, for a couple to not fight or have some sort of mishap is unbelievable.

I kind of wished Wray and Kim's book was first since so much has happened to them and we basically got a full recap on what happened to them and how they fell in love.

Abandon all brain activity, ye who enter here.

I´m not sure I can do this book any justice. It's a train wreck. It's a guilty pleasure. It's the alien smut version of a crazy telenovela, the kind you wouldn´t be caught dead watching... but can´t help yourself. Not your fault, obviously, that shit is addictive! It's so full of tropes and clichés and grammar tragedies (they're/there/their, you're/your) that is, in fact, fascinating. I mean, at some point it's a statistical certainty you´ll get some than/then right. Even a stopped watch is correct twice a day, after all, and this is not freakin' quantum science.

Let's say the author broke the rules of statistics, and probably some Guinness record.

I don't know what hurt more: the spasmodic use of commas, or the stupidity of the situations the characters put themselves in. Abducted by aliens? Oh, sure, so tell me, oh hunky blue man, at what time is dinner served in this pretty spaceship of yours? I'm kinda peckish.

At some point I wanted to gouge my eyes out. True, the same eyes that rolled out so badly and so often that I could see the progression of my neurons wither and die. Yet, I couldn't stop reading, I wanted more, I just couldn't believe the audacity of having this published!

I'm still amazed.

So I've actually read this book a few times now and I have to say that it's one of my favorites! I won't lie, the story line can be a bit confusing at times, and there are a LOT of editing issues(they may be small but throughout the book they add up), and thought this is the "first" book in the series it should really be the second.

Grim and Lisa meet just after she has awaken from being abducted (by aliens! Yes I had to say it lol:p) from Earth.

-Problem, Lisa has two children who have been left behind and none of the male aliens seem inclined to return Lisa to them.

-Solution, Grim has been deemed "unfit" due to the scars that mare his body after an attack that nearly took his life. Having these scars means that no woman (female) in his home planets will choose to join with him. Seeing Lisa's genuine distress Grim sees an opportunity to help her and have what he want's most, even if it means raising another mans sons.

The Goddess is looking out for Grim though for instead of having son's Lisa instead has two adorable daughters (females/women are at a 1 to 200 ratio in his home galaxy making them extremely valuable and thus elevating his position). There are many pit falls and misunderstandings along the way but with Lisa having already been married, widowed and having two children she is wise beyond her years. Together they work to unveil a plot to kill the Emperor (Grim's brother), and solve many past crimes where the blame was shifted and the real culprit(s) never found.

*There is so much that happens in this book than described above, and nearly all of it is important to read. I'm not sure what it is exactly that draws me to this story more than others but it's a favorite that I have read many times now. Also since I tend to speed read I missed some things the first time, hence the 'nearly everything is important to read'. I would highly recommend this book for someone else to read and enjoy, especially if you tend to like the whole 'Mars needs women' plot line.

The summary is confusing. The story it's self is a bit confusing in the sense that it felt like the author completed 2 books but accidentally sent the second one in as the first. There were some holes in the story that felt like they might have been explained in the first, only the first story has yet to be published. Still I really enjoyed the story and the interactions between Lisa and Grim. It's interesting to me that Grim having scars deemed him unworthy, if I was forced to choose a warrior I might be more likely to choose one with scars than one with out as they would be proof that he could fight. Honestly, there men and warriors, I would expect them to have scars! That aside I'm looking forward to reading the next book (which should have been the first), 5 stars from me!
