Guilty pleasure. Nothing groundbreaking or really original but it keeps me turning pages.

Jasper Gervais, the grumpy, but so very loving of a man you are. I adore him, and there were several moments where I just wanted to hug him with all that he's been through. I really enjoyed the relationship and friendship between him and Sloane, though her character did fall a little flat for me at some points. I really enjoyed this story, and it would've been a 5 star childhood friends to lovers for me if the running "cousins" joke hadn't been beaten like a dead horse. It very quickly became cringeworthy. I was also hoping for more of a conclusive ending with Jasper's past — something with his mother or father...that part of the story didn't feel done to me. Still a decent love story though with some fun and spicy goodness and a sweet ending.
**This book deals with death, childhood trauma, anxiety, and mentions drug use, but all of it is handled with care by the author.
Graphic: Sexual content
Moderate: Child death, Grief, Abandonment
I don’t think I’ll ever read an Elsie silver book I don’t like! Love all the inter connected characters she writes. Sloane and Jasper’s story was super cute. I did like heartless a bit more than this one but still a fun, sweet read.
