Similar to the previous entry in Wayfarers, Record of a Spaceborn Few focuses on life in the GC. Instead of having a single goal that all characters are headed towards, we get to see them living life on the Exodus fleet. There is a clear character arc for all of the characters and they subtly interact with each other but each individual journey is that, an individual journey. The depth with which the author grasps with life on a long term space ship is amazing and a treat to read, especially because the nuance of such life is acknowledged and dealt with. If you're looking for a gripping thriller, this isn't the book for you. However, if you're looking for a book that dives deep into the everyday experience of life in space from multiple perspectives, how lives intersect and go on despite the challenges and changes around the characters, this is absolutely the book for you.

This was a good read. Like the first two books in this series it is heavy on the detail of living in space. and while I liked that it also felt a bit too thick on those details sometimes. I yearned for more action/drama but the author does not deliver in this regard.
Instead she delves into the lives of the characters, describing the hows and whys of a community in space. Parts of this had me in tears and other parts had me laughing hard and eager to share the joke with others. So yes, I enjoyed reading the story even though I felt it lacked the action and drama that I am accustomed to.

I love Becky Chambers. I do think RoaSF is the weakest of the Wayfarers book, but it's still a brilliant read. Having read Psalm for the Wild-Built prior to re-reading this, I feel like some of the ideas of purpose from RoaSF are honed there
