This book wasn't for me. I wanted to stop reading multiple times through out, BUT I did see it through until the end. I was a little bugged that they didn't really try that hard about "getting out" of the family business. It seemed like every opportunity they had they just made the wrong decision again and again. (I get it, thats what happens in books... but not evvveryyyy time.) I guess I had expected them to actually make it in the new life.. I'm not sure. What I am sure about... That ending. It was something I hadn't been expecting. I am glad I continued reading and didn't just assume how it would end. I was surprised with the twists, aaannnndddd I will be coming back to read book 2. With that being said, it wasn't alllll bad. Rocky is hot and I will read book two just to get more of him lol.

this was sort of a mess?  but it was fun.  the POVs/voices are a little weird, in that you’re getting the narrative almost entirely from thoughts and memories instead of through dialogue or the unfolding of events - particularly when it comes to the development of the main relationship, which was sort of a bummer because I love love watching those things progress more as a witness than as a surrogate journal? but it wasn’t the worst.  the con thing is fun enough but stays a little high stakes, pretty dramatic and dark, which keeps this from going too goofy or frothy (a la butcher & blackbird) but it never takes itself toooo too seriously.  I finished it and immediately started the next one, so clearly, I didn’t hate it.

This book is messy in the most addictive and stupid way.

It’s probably not the best written book but I was hooked and it was a very easy read. I’m a firm believer that romance books don’t need to be this long but I couldn’t put it down so it really flew by.

I will be picking up book 2 because I need more drama.
