I need more people to be stressed out that these characters were LITERALLY related (by marriage but STILL)

other than that, WOW i'm so sorry that people on the internet are mean to you, a literal influencer without a job.

This book had potential to be cute; I loved the idea of the enemies to lovers being set in a gym, but trying to tackle cyberbullying, racism, and fatphobia with a (frankly) annoying and self-centered FMC didn't hit for me.

(audiobook)

I was having the most fun till somehow the story got dragged to so many things and it got hard to finished. I had to obligate myself because I only had 50 pages left. But yeah, kinda disappointed

Knížka se mi celkově moc líbila

Crystal is at the gym doing her thing when this uncouth, albeit sexy man, tries to creep in on the equipment she is clearly about to use. This means war...
There are some things I enjoyed (Scott, the body positivity for Crystal, her self-confidence, her relationship with her family) and others I didn't (her immaturity, all of the jumping to conclusions, her lusty hatred for Scott). The cover and premise were so much more appealing. I think I would have enjoyed seeing more from Scott's perspective.
As an avid audiobook fan, it breaks my heart a little bit to not enjoy the format. The narrator, Carolyn Kang, gave off an added level of immaturity. I think her voice would be more suited to a young adult or middle grade work.
Thank you to Berkley and NetGalley for the advanced copy and PRHA for the alc. All thoughts in this review are my own.

3.25 ⭐️ Solid debut novel/first book in The Influencer series

"I may not be everyone's cup of tea, and neither is Scott. We laugh at stupid things. We'd rather die than put on real clothes and leave the house, unless it's to go to the gym. There are no theatrics. No crazy, impulsive, fairy-tale adventures. It's simply us, day in and day out, doing life together. And every day is a new personal best."

I really liked this book!

Crystal Chen is a plus-size personal trainer and Fitstagrammer known for her body positivity platform. One day at the gym, a very handsome man steals her favorite squat rack, and it is loathing at first sight.

Squat Rack Thief, later known as Scott Ritchie, is a firefighter with a penchant for smartassery and not a small amount of pining for the woman at the gym who will not give him an inch of slack.

As they run into each other at an engagement party for their respective grandparents (really), they are repeatedly thrown together with explosive results.

I really liked the chemistry between Crystal and Scott and found Crystal’s insecurities about her weight and her platform and her jerk ex very believable. Her trust issues and her projected insecurities make finding a happily ever after challenging but not impossible, and Scott was realistically patient and sweet enough to make it work.

There are a few scenes of hanky panky in the gym locker room and showers, which EW GROSS HAVE YOU EVER SMELLED A MEN’S LOCKER ROOM? But other than that, an enjoyable read.

something about this was addicting - literally flew through it! I didn’t expect to like it as much as I did since I wasn’t obsessed with exes and o’s but really enjoyed the banter and the quirkiness with the characters
