DID NOT FINISH

DNF at pg 292/347

Don't get me wrong this was cute af and I loved their chemistry, but by the time some major drama was happening I was already checked out.

Also don't market this as "Enemies to Lovers" when the tension lasts for only 50 pages in

A cute, easy-to-read romcom that features a curvy, biracial fitness influencer. I thought the author did a great job of handling the body positivity and fitness angle and working it into the story without overwhelming the romance. Both Crystal and Scott felt like real, fleshed out characters with flaws and quirks, and I enjoyed watched the sparks fly between them. I would definitely consider picking up the second book in this series, which follows Crystal's chaotic younger sister Tara.

Read for February book club. Overall a nice read! Wasn’t super invested in the beginning as I found the main character incredibly childish and annoying, but as the story went, I warmed up to her. The last ~30% or so sort of changed gears, but honestly I didn’t mind it because I think it gave a very accurate depiction of the curvy female experience and the inner dilemma of weight vs worth.

the third act breakup was a WEE silly, but this was too good!!!!! the banter was excellent, mmc is a golden retriever, fmc is a legend.

I've come to the conclusion that I hate public romantic gestures. I was cringing so hard at the fake fire call-out. I would vomit on the spot if my partner tried to do something like that for me EMBARRASSING. I enjoyed the start of this but hated the direction it went in and didn't like how the twist at the end was given away in the blurb... Like the idea behind this and the start but wish it had gone a different route.

very sweet lil romcom but ultimately scott fell a lil flat for me

New pet peeve: books that take place in Boston, written by people who have clearly never been to Boston. A parking lot? At a downtown gym? LOL. Geographical inaccuracies aside (literally never getting over the “neighborhood full of newly constructed homes just outside the city” thing - genuinely trying to imagine where this could possibly be referring to), this book annoyed me so much. But I don’t suppose it’d be a captivating read or whatever if every single fight was simply rewritten as, “Crystal talked to Scott about her feelings instead of leaping to conclusions and they resolved their misunderstandings through communication and dialogue.” I think I’m the wrong audience for romance novels. Am I the only person who finds open communication so much sexier than just like making wild assumptions and setting up stupidly arbitrary rules to prevent yourself from having sex with the person you’re attracted to (and who is supes attracted to you)? Sorry, sis, not here for these bonkers relationship dynamics.
