I am a long time fan of Dorothy Koomson’s books, way before my book blogging days. I have thoroughly enjoyed reading her books. They do tend to be long, but with such complex characters and gripping plots. I know I can’t go wrong with a Dorothy Koomson book. Whilst her most recent release isn’t my favourite of hers, it is still deeply intriguing and quick to read.
It centres around Cece who has moved her family from London to Brighton to support her husband’s career. She has given up her job, her home and her friends. She has to build a new life surrounded by strangers. As a reader, we learn that there has been an attack at Cece’s children’s new school that leaves a parent in a coma. The police have no idea who could be responsible for the attack. Cece recognises there are some mothers acting very oddly. Cece is welcomed into their group but she soon finds out they’re all hiding information…
As expected with a Dorothy Koomson book, the storyline is fantastic. I kept thinking that I had a character all worked out and then something would be thrown into the mix and I’d start questioning myself once more. I thought the plot twists were so well thought out. Dorothy Koomson really is a master of story telling. I was captured by the story and didn’t want to put it down! It was a little slow to start with which is the only reason why I haven’t given it the full five star treatment!

Cece moves to Brighton with her kids for her husbands job and enrols her youngest boys into a private school. However, what Cece didn’t know was a couple of weeks before a child’s mother got severely beaten and left for dead in the school playground.
All eyes are on Cece on the first day of school, or are they? Cece makes friends with Anaya, Maxie and Hazel who evidently turn out to be the frirnds of Yvonne, who is now in a coma. But each friend carries a secret and they all have not been entirely truthful about the night Yvonne was attacked.
Whilst Cece is adjusting to her new life, friends and her husbands distance, she is thrown into the mix of who tried to kill Yvonne when her ex turns up who is in charge of the investigation with the police and asks for her help. Will Cece find out what her new friends are hiding and who made an attempt on Yvonne’s life……
I love a Dorothy Koomson book, I didn’t want to put it down. My only grip was the way it was set out, at first was slightly confusing. The writing was on point was lots of little cliff hangers, twists and turns.
Love Dorothy, loved her book. Definitely an Unputdownable keeps your mind ticking, it’s a definite 5/5

why this didn't work for me:
1) the first half was sooo sloooowwwww... i really considered dnf'ing at several points because the story wasn't picking up at all and i felt like dorothy koomson spent too much time setting everything up.
2) why was that first scene with cece dropping the kids off at school repeated three more times from three different perspectives?? i didn't need that and it was boring to read.
3) i don't love multiple pov narratives to begin with but then to keep breaking up the narrative with flashbacks just took me out of the story every time; there must have been a better way to blend them in without specifying the date, which i didn't need to know. particularly the chapters where the women are confessing to cece about their past and in the middle of their stories they kept going back to the present to show us cece's reaction??
4) the culprit was barely in the story at all and it felt like koomson just pulled this out of thin air
the list could go on and on...

A page turner, but as with other mysteries it lives/dies by the revelation(s) which i thought were a bit meh.

Reminded me of 'Desperate Housewives' in book form. I disliked all of the ladies but still couldn't stop reading.
