“I wish there was a sport called Reading a Book, where competitors had to choose the best book in the library, find the cosiest corner, and read.”
Tracy Beaker is back, and just as gobby as ever, but this time Tracy has a daughter, Jess, and she's ready for luck to fall on them for once. Jess thinks that her mum is the best, even when she is shouting at teachers or karate chopping the air. Jess also think that their cosy top floor flat is the best, however Tracy might not agree. Tracy wanted a better life for her daughter than the one she had growing up, so when her boyfriend Sean Godfrey, offers them a better life, Tracy jumps at the chance, not considering that maybe, her childhood dream might have already been right before her eyes. Follow along as Tracy and Jess get up to typical Beaker mischief.
Oh the nostalgia!!! I absolutely adored Tracy Beaker and Jacqueline Wilson when I was younger and this book just brought all of those feelings flooding back. I watched The Story of Tracy Beaker and The Dumping Ground on repeat, and so getting this amazing book telling us about Tracy's life as an adult is such a treat!! Although it clearly is a children's book it definitely feels that it is aimed at those that grew up with Tracy - we get mentions of some of the more well-remembered Dumping Ground characters, I only wish every character had been mentioned!! Wilson brilliantly brings in aspects from Tracy Beakers life and you just get a real sense of how important these things are to the characters, even all the way down to Justine's fancy clock!
Wilson really delivered with this book and I absolutely adored it - I hope she writes more so we can follow the Beaker's exploits throughout their lives! Right...off to watch The Story of Tracy Beaker again.

This was such a lovely book from our favourite author revisiting our much loved characters, with some additional new ones. I really enjoyed reading the story of the struggle between mother and daughter. I especially loved, and was most surprised and delighted, about the LGBTQ+ storyline that was very subtly intertwined in the back drop of the plot. I hope that they make this one into a film, or Wilson adds more to Jess’s life! I want to know more :)

Ah, Jacqueline Wilson still has my heart, even though this was the first book of hers I've read in over a decade! The plot was predictable in places, but it's still a great sequel to the Tracy Beaker series!

So nostalgic. Jacqueline Wilson’s books were a huge part of my childhood so I loved revisiting her writing. It’s cute to see characters you grew up with become mums and hear their children’s stories. I’m getting old.

Such a cute book! I was worried that I wouldn’t have the same appreciation of Jaqueline Wilson at 22 compared to when I was 12. However, it only took me a few pages to be completely invested in her story. The plot was fun and quick paced with familiar faces such as Cam and Justine Littlewood making appearances. I loved how the book addresses real issues that many young children go through. Primarily, Jess Beaker’s mixed feelings about her mum's new relationship. My only criticism was how the relationship transpired (I won't give spoilers but If you’ve read it you should know what I mean) I didn’t find it at all realistic, and it only seemed to happen to serve a rushed final few chapters.

Nothing like a wee read of childhood favourites when you’re going through a tough time.
Although it’s a new book, Tracy Beaker hasn’t changed a bit. Really enjoyed and I loved the ending!
