We’ve made it to the end of Dominika and Nate’s story, and we’re waiting to see how the story ends in The Kremlin’s Candidate by Jason Matthews.

The book picks up where Palace of Treason left off. Dominika is flagged for promotion into the upper ranks of the Russian government. She’s caught wind of a plot to replace Putin with a mole that has been working for the US for over fifteen years.

Like all good spy stories we get a lot of deception and seduction. The story is tied up nicely. I wish I could offer a bit more information, but the story is a bit convoluted and can be hard to follow. All in all, I’m glad we can mark it off the TBR list and move onto other books.

I’m so sad to see this trilogy end! Full of suspense and unexpected turns. Loved it!

A great conclusion to the trilogy. It was inevitably dark which I felt wholly believable.

This series was just intriguing enough to keep me interested and want to see it through but it was pretty slow at times.

A gripping plot, neat wrap-up and an inevitable but sad ending. Could drag at moments with all the superfluous detail, but that’s what made the world of the book feel so real.

The concluding part of the Red Sparrow trilogy is brutal and isn't afraid to come to a realistic ending which I suspect will be marmite to some readers. You'll love the way this concludes or hate it. In parts the violence and sex verged on too much more me, but overall this was a satisfying read with so great nods to tradecraft along the way.

*Spoiler alert*
I listened to these books as quickly as I could check them out from the library. I loved the spy aspect but was really disappointed in the ending. I also found some plot holes that drove me crazy. Maybe it's just me but when I got to book 2 and Domi's mother is dead for no apparent reason (she wasn't necessary anymore I suppose) and hardly any mention of her father's death which started her to spying by being recruted by her uncle at his funeral. Then to hear Nate comment to her in book 2 that her mother had been dead for years threw me off. She wasn't dead she was being used as leverage to keep Domi spying for Russia. Perhaps years passed from 1-2 but still this bothered me how did she die? Was she sick? Wtf? Anyway and then book 3 and the mother is alive again in the prolog like everything was back to the way it was supposed to be in book 1 and there was no mention of her being dead at all. Why the big plot whole? Also book to she has conversations with Dead Sparrows giving her guidance book 3 nothing. Book 3 Domi mentioned something about will she ever tell Nate about the colors but he already knows about them in book 1. I realize this is a long book series and some things were bound to fall through the cracks but for some reason it bugs me. Other than that and the emotional rip your heart out ending it was an excellent read. Would have given it 5 stars if not for the ending.
