I loved how relatable the FMC was. She self sabotages her own happiness, keeps her heart guarded, makes jokes in uncomfortable situations, and loves true crime.
I sped read through this because I needed it OVER with. Oh my god, I truly could not stand the main character. She seemed to have this inner feeling of being superior to everyone but also hating herself and having no self esteem? There was honestly no fundamental plot and her love interest felt very two dimensional to me. She consistently belittled him and gave off red flags and he continued to be the sweet boy next door and always said yes I forgive you when she came back? I understand her trauma and her being afraid of love but he gave her no remarks whenever she came back he just hugged her and pretended everything was fine.

Easy read and very predictable. Love story was not realistic but it was good fantasy. One thing that I loves that gave it that extra star was that the character was plus-size without it being the whole focus and plot of the book. It just existed as a fact only seen through small comments and mentions of it. Grammar errors in the book bothered me a bit too. Also one random spot where a kid goes from being unnamed to being named Marcus to being unnamed. I thought it was a funny publishing oversight.
DNF at 125 pages. Phoebe was majorly unlikeable, no chemistry with the love interest, boring plot, I just felt no interest in the characters or where this was going.

3.5 rounded up. I hated the MC - she was just incredibly unlikeable and seemed to be unaware of basic polite human interaction. The side characters were all great though.
