I read this at my good friend's behest after admitting that I truly hated the first Bridgerton novel. (This was hard to admit because Quinn is her favorite author of late.) So, I was delightfully surprised to get wrapped up in the story and characters, and cry by the end.

I love this author with my entire being, and once again, I fell in love with another one of her books. It's so upsetting for me to see the number of people saying that this book is bad just because they're reading it after the Bridgertons. I understand reading more of an author's works after you fall in love with one of their series, but you cannot trash the book simply because it isn't the same as the one you read before. A great author writes in multiple different styles, and that's why people love them: you never know what you're going to get. This book has characters that you can relate to, a main character who leaves you laughing long after you're done with the book, and a plot that keeps you interested. Many reviews said that the book was boring because the females didn't do things that women today do, but that's the point. It's a HISTORICAL romance. To hate on a book simply because you didn't know what you were getting into, is like being mad that the pasta you ordered has mushrooms in it when it was clearly stated on the menu.
Julia Quinn mungkin adalah author HR Pure romance kedua yang ceritanya aku sukai selain Lisa Kleypas. (yang satunya lagi adalah Teresa Medeiros, kalo Lisa Valdez itu gimana ya, hehehehe)
Buku ini seolah mengatakan bahwa first love never dies.Cinta Miranda pada Turner tidak pernah berubah selama 10 tahun sejak gadis itu mengenal Turner. Dari Turner pula Miranda memulai kegiatan menulis diarinya.
Sempat khawatir semenjak Turner kehilangan istrinya, bakal bikin dia jadi cowo menyebalkan (yang ingin kuinjak2, hmpfh).Tapi, yup , dy memang menyebalkan, tapi juga adorable at the same time.
Mengingat usahanya yang tak kenal lelah dalam meyakinkan Miranda untuk menikahinya, dan juga saat akhirnya dia menyatakan cinta pada Miranda
And, the ending I like it ^^
Pengen baca yang ceritanya Olivia. Tapi, cari pinjeman duluuuuu...

I might have found something to fill the Bridgerton-sized hole in my heart. Julia Quinn has quickly become one of my favorite historical romance writers. Yes, yes, I'm a marshmallow.
Miranda Cheever and her best friend, Olivia Bevelstoke, have always been 2 peas in a pod. Miranda is a part of the family, and has had a schoolgirl crush on Turner, the oldest brother, since she was 10 years old. Time passes, and Miranda is all grown up and headed to her first season. Turner, conveniently a widower, has come back to the family fold and sparks fly. At every turn, they spark, they flirt, and are like magnets, drawn together. They try their best to resist, but you know it will end in a HEA. She's smart and funny, and he's handsome and caring. A good combo, for sure.
I loved the romance, and the thoughtfulness Turner put into their relationship. It was clearly apparent to everyone but Miss Miranda and Turner how devoted he was, but in the end they all lived happily ever after.

The unrequited love angst was great but I’m not sure I really got the love from Turner. And I didn’t quite understand why he’d compromise her and have to marry her when that was the last thing he supposedly wanted. I don’t think he ever understood that he was making Miranda as miserable as Leticia made him. Needed more groveling.
