Pretty much a bowl of crap. I picked it off a list with other books I like.

The Kill Artist is the first in a series by Daniel Silva showcasing his conflicted artist/killer, Gabriel Allon. Allon is asked to get back into the killing game by his former boss, a higher up in the Israeli Mosad. The target is Tariq, a well-known and successful Palestinian assassin. Allon reluctantly agrees to abandon his art restoration to help his old colleague and brings in beautiful bait in the form of a French model. Twists and turns, surprises and terror, and in the end, what is real and who can one trust? A gripping novel with just enough questioning of both sides of the Arab/Israeli conflict.

This book has been on my to be read list for what seems like forever. There were so many themes in this book that intrigued me and it did not disappoint. It was fast paced, multiple POVs, touch of the art world, and lots of drama. I had a love/hate relationship for the ending. I loved parts of it but was felt it was abrupt and fell flat. However, overall I really enjoyed the book and I guess I have another series to add to my list.

My dad and my cousin were talking about books at Christmas, and Daniel Silva was mentioned. The next day, I went to Barnes and Noble to pick up the first one to take on a trip, and I'm delighted that I did.

I never would have suspected that International Thriller would be a genre I would enjoy, but this book proved me wrong. It's full of complex characters, back room deals, well-developed intrigue, and isn't drowning in absurd love stories (my pet peeve of late) that detract from the main storyline.

I docked a star, because I felt the end was rushed given how much detail and exposition was included in the first three quarters of the book. I'm not a fan of when a book seems to be rushing me out the door.

I liked this a lot. I'd never read anything by Silva before but I can see checking out more of his books. Especially since he has about 19 books featuring the main character from this one. At least I know he doesn't kill off his main character!

Solid thriller.
Looking forward to more in the series

3.5
A good thriller. I'm hoping it gets more intense as the characters develop and the series moves on. I am moving on to the next in the series.
