Jack’s a divorced dad and a hockey enforcer who's just trying to keep his life together. Enter Mara O'Connell, a single mom with chronic health issues, and—surprise—an agreement for a marriage of convenience. They need each other’s help, and when Jack’s nanny quits for the fourth time, it’s game time for these two. The plan: pretend to be in love for the sake of their kids and keep the peace. Easy, right? Wrong. Because Unthinkable might just turn into something real—and fast. 🏒❤️
From unexpected femdom vibes (did NOT see that coming but wow, I loved it!) to the perfect banter and sizzling chemistry, Dani Galliaro nails it again. The characters? Pure gold. I was rooting for Jack and Mara from start to finish, especially with their funny, tender moments, and the way they care for each other’s kids. And the side characters? Chef’s kiss—this world is so rich and fun!
I honestly thought book one had set the bar too high, but Unthinkable totally delivered. You get laughs, heart, heat, and a whole lot of feels. Trust me, if you love witty romance with a bit of hockey flair and real-world struggles, you NEED this one in your life. 10/10.

This story was swoon worthy but not in the typical way. It might just be me but the way Jack cared so hard that he couldn’t even recognize he was in love until it hit him before he was about to do something stupid! Anywho, the only thing I wished about this story was that Jack and Mara’s book came before Dylan and Jeanine’s story because I kept thinking to their timeline and we already saw in the first book that they made it work. I’m not sure, It feels almost backwards reading about the Sorrento’s then Jack and Mara’s story. That aside, I love the way their families blended so well. I think my favorite moment was the court house wedding when they exchanged vows. 🥹 And the spice was definitely spicy. I think the funniest moment was Jack’s parking lot scene. I won’t give too much away but it was mighty hilarious 😂. The conversation between Jack and Sydney before they moved to Ohio was so mature and I was proud of Sydney’s growth because I went through too many books with her insufferable ass self. And I don’t care by Bryce didn’t deserve how kind they were to him 🙄 he’s a POS. Overall, I genuinely liked the book and loved seeing the growth and changes that happened 🥹. I loved how they took care of each other and how Mara helped heal some of his wounds little by little. Also, I 100% need a book on Nikki and Gabi 😩 because I’m nosey lol.

The Sad Bad Boy That Becomes Her Good Boy
Unthinkable is a hockey romance that blends heart, heat, and healing perfectly. Jack, the notorious bad boy goon of the league, meets his match in Mara, a disabled single mom living with EDS and MCAS. What starts as a marriage of convenience quickly unravels into something deeper and more powerful. Jack, known for his rough edges and asshole reputation, goes absolutely soft for Mara, who not only challenges him but dommes him in the most delicious ways.
The dynamic between them is electric—full of vulnerability, respect, and fiery chemistry. Mara’s strength, both in dealing with her disability and in how she handles Jack, makes her a standout heroine. And Jack? Watching this tough guy fall to pieces (in the best way) for her is beyond satisfying. Their journey together is both steamy and emotional, showing that love can thrive even in the unlikeliest circumstances.
Make sure to check trigger warnings, but if you’re into strong heroines, soft-for-her bad boys, and a perfect mix of spice and heart, this book is a must-read. Five stars, absolutely loved it—no notes!

I'm incredibly late on this review because I've been trying to form words to explain how I feel about this book and everything just ends up coming out gaaah. Which is Stacie for it's so freaking good, everyone and their mother and their mother's mother needs to read it. Dani is so great at blending humor and spice with real life situations (some that I never would have imagined).
Jack gave me such Roy Kent vibes. He's so cranky and blunt but inside, he's really a big old mushball who is a sucker for the people he loves. Mara is one badass FMC. While I haven't experienced being a single mom with a dickhead ex or the type of chronic illness Mara has specifically, I think she is still one of the most relatable characters I've read in quite some time. I loved her. I might want to be her actually but I digress.
Mara and Jack feeling safe enough with each other to explore their kinks was amazingly written and also led to some hilarious scenes with Jack's team. This was by far my favorite of the books of Dani's that I've read. Five amazingly wonderful stars.
