One of those cookbooks you read for the author's voice and wit, but the recipes sound wonderful. So far, have made the leek fritters (okay), the cranberry squares (delicious, reduce the cloves by half), and the black bean ragout (good flavor, not quite sure what to do with it). Have also marked the brisket and the rosemary Gruyere chips. The baked ranchero eggs sound pretty good, too. Okay, will need to check this out again...
OK seriously I sat down and read a cookbook. And I'm gonna sit down and read it again and again, with post-it notes and plaaaans. I think I could actually see myself cooking my way through this Julie and Julia style. The breakfast section alone is the stuff of my dreams. I am enthusiastic about this cookbook.
I love Deb's work. This book doesn't contain my favorite of her recipes, Bienenstich, but the photographs are beautiful and the recipes, while not fool-proof, are really, REALLY well-researched and practiced. The only times I've messed them up are the times when I've tried to cut corners or not read carefully.
Inspiring in every way: between the sweet introductions, the savory combinations of ingredients and the luscious photography, I plan to cook everything in this cookbook, even if I have to eat it all alone. More likely, I may convert some of my family to liking ingredients they had previously thought off limits.
Okay. This is a really pretty cookbook. The author's photographs are lovely, and there are plenty of them. Her anecdotes aren't too annoying (I usually find them to be irritating), but there's just something... missing. I have only tried one recipe from this book so far, and it was a dud (the popcorn cookies--because I love all things popcorn and cookies!). There are a few other recipes that I want to try, so hopefully I will be more successful. I would consider this cookbook to be more on the "pretty coffee table book" end of the cookbook spectrum (I like mine to be slightly more to the 'pretty and yet still practical' side).
Beautiful cookbook with lots of nice pictures. I really enjoyed browsing through this book.

I cannot say enough good things about this cookbook. Every recipe I made was a hit with my family...which is not an easy accomplishment. She is an amazing writer and the cookbook is very entertaining!! I've since signed up for her webpage and facebook page and am a big fan! I'm looking forward to her next book!!
