He's done it again. Adam Silvera writes characters that are flawed and make bad decisions but you end up loving them anyway. HISTORY made me cry, laugh & think multiple times throughout. It broke me, basically. It is so well written and the characters are so interesting and complex. Griffin is a sweetie pie with a whole truck load of issues and at times i was feeling for him but then other times I was mad at him for acting so rash and not even thinking about anyone other than himself. Theo was sweet but kinda annoying for me? idk. At the start I loved him and Griffin together but as I got further into the book I realised how destructive he was for Griffin and that kinda made me dislike him a lot. Wade was great, like SO so great. I really did not expect the turn his character took but I loved it so much and i'm SO happy with his ending. Jackson was someone I demonised at the start, same as Griffin, because of his relationship with Theo but I actually ended up really enjoying his character. He is so troubled by his past (before Theo) and now with what happened to Theo he's even more troubled and broken but having someone like Griffin to talk to was so good for him. I did really like him at the end but he was still a bit eh for me. All of Adam's books are great for diversity but this one especially. Lots of queer rep, mental illness rep, disabled rep AND on top of all of that its #ownvoices which is brilliant. HISTORY wasn't as heartbreaking as MORE HAPPY for me (that literally wrecked me and I couldn't read for weeks after that) but it still broke me. 10/10 absolutely LOVED it. Can't wait for Adam's next release which comes out THIS YEAR!!!!! so excited.

This book is way too long for absolutely nothing to happen. I really wanted to like it, and the beginning was promising, but this was a painful 10-hour listen. It was so hard to follow at times and honestly so boring. I know everyone deals with grief differently, but this was so strange and whiny and such a stark contrast to the writing and story development in Adams other books. I wish I would have skipped this one.

I have heard such great things about this book, as well as all others by Adam Silvera, so I am pretty disappointed that I didn’t enjoy it as much as I wanted to. I found that the story was a little boring and didn’t have much going on or depth to it, in my opinion. I wasn’t a fan of the characters and didn’t feel connected to them. I also didn’t love the relationship that drives this whole story, nor the relationships following it. This book read very slowly and I found that it wasn’t holding my attention majority of the time. I almost decided to DNF it, but I pushed through because this book and author are so popular. I have read one other book by Adam Silvera, and I wasn’t a huge fan of that either. It makes me sad to admit it, but I’m not sure that I will be continuing to read books by this author. I just don’t think that his writing style and type of stories that he writes is for me.

“Every universe I’ve created lately, your face keeps popping up in it.”

This is a beautifully sad story that deals heavily with the grief of losing someone you love. The tears started falling down my face almost immediately. I really appreciated this story for all the wonderful messages it sends, and the great representation of people with OCD.

That was sad book to read, our main characters are messy but that's how teenagers I guess , I didn't expect the some of plot twist at the end but it's make sense to me too
Griffin is not perfect so is Theo, Jackson, wade, our main lead griffin is selfish in grief when you read more and more, but at least he got some self awareness on it or when wade called him out on it

Theo.. Ah Theo I don't think I like you, you were so selfish, you didn't let go of your past lover who is your best friend yet you had full relationship with Jackson, your anger that lead you to death feel selfish to me, It didn't make sense

Anyway in general I loved the book, I hated the character sometimes but I felt bad for them, in alternate universe maybe our 4 of them are friends and no hard feeling or selfishness between them

This book was definitely better than Adam's last book. It was so heartbreaking and I think that it worked so well with the switching between the past and present. It was well written and I felt so much for these characters. I went through this whole roller coaster of living in these character's grief. I just love how Adam keeps it real, and gives the twists that real life comes with. He doesn't hold shit back cause life can really suck and apparently it's like a therapy for him to write and get all these sad things out.

SPOILER SECTION

I really liked the way that it played out with Jackson. Just cause he met some other gay guy who understood his situation, didn't mean they fit like that. They were always competing with each other before, and they were so torn about Theo. It just wasn't right and I liked how Griffin didn't have Jackson as end game and they were friends healing together but not in a destructive way.

Can I just say with Wade, I did NOT see that coming, but I really loved it. When I found out I was like whoa. What?! But then he was going to his apartment and I was like yes I WANT THIS TO BE ENDGAME. And I like how it was immediately everything is fine because you can't hurt someone and think or will be ok. Especially since their relationship before was just not right and Griff was just doing it cause he was hurting. And yet he did love Wade. Adam purposely made Wade a side character who was kid of not important, because we saw through Griff's eyes who was on a constant thread of TheoTheoTheo. I just lies how he came back and both Griffin and the reader started to notice how much Wade cared in ways we didn't see with the picture frame, and just letting his best friends be together besides his feelings. Wades story could be one of it's own.

I also like how OCD was portrayed in this book. OCD is serious and not just being neat or washing your hands. I liked seeing this window into understanding OCD and Griffin's ticks. I like how Wadr helped him through to get him out of his comfort zone. You see the difference between Wade and Theo for Griffin and both are good. It's just nice that Wade tries to help him and he keeps it real.

This was and amazing book and thank you Adam for letting all the readers be on this journey.
