I truly love reading all the new and exciting ways authors can spin the Enemies-to-Lovers trope, & this is no exception.

Isadora & her Aunt Midge were a great pair, Lucian & his darkness was consistent throughout the book, even with the twists and turns that I enjoyed as well. Not quite 4 stars but pretty close.

Isa is an amazing character.
Truly. I loved her, her back story, her aunt - even her mom.
Where we got a pretty in depth background story for Lucian though, who's POV starts 15 years prior to the story line it wasn't the same for her.

I would have really liked to read more on Isa in that way. Gotten to know her more, more time with Kelsey (her bff) & involved that relationship more.
I wish her relationship with Guilia developed more, & I wouldn't even mind a lot more Makaio dialogue!

So this isn't a con exactly.. I'd say it's a compliment that Lake spun such interesting characters that I actually wanted to read into them MORE, not get through their sections, inner dialogue, or similar.

This book was unexpected. When I went into it I honestly did not think that I would like it. However, I was about halfway through when I found myself not being able to put it down wondering how everything was going to work out at the end. This book is the definition of the perfect blend of slow burn and smut. The romance/spice starts almost exactly halfway through the book. I hate when books wait till almost the end of the book for the romance to happen. I want to be able to continue reading but still able to enjoy their romance.

PLEASE READ THE TRIGGER WARNINGS!!!

This book is dark, there is rape, sexual assault, murder, BDSM, knife play, breath play, drug addiction, and overdose. I was not sure if this book was going to be for me and honestly, this is as dark as I think that I am comfortable with reading.

I live for a dark-thrilling adventure. The gloomy atmosphere of this story flourished with each page. I wasn’t prepared for the twist of events, and the suspense was eating at me. In the end, I’m happy to have found some closure. Will be continuing to read the rest of Keri’s backlist. I haven’t come across a book of KL’s that I haven’t enjoyed.

The production of this audiobook was so well done. I couldn’t find one slip up and every scene was so intriguing and satisfying. Ryan West and Stephanie Kay were both enthusiastic and entertaining. I felt the terror and romance of this gothic tale through their performance and loved every bit of this audiobook.

What in the ever loving f(bomb)?! This is an amazing read! I'm completely mind blown. With all the twists and turns, I had a hard time putting this down. I now question if I'm a sick and twisted individual for enjoying it so much.

Take a chance on it if you're unsure. You won't be disappointed.

No sorry I don’t really want to read about how a 16yo started getting really into breathplay after an adult woman seduced him………

Like a bad retelling of Beauty and the Beast
