DNF.
Interesting premise. Fascinating world setting. Characters I could get on board with.
But the writing makes it so difficult to read.
Missed opportunity.
I'm hoping I'll find another fun Dinosaur fantasy novel or series one day.

I expected this novel to be fun and maybe a little trashy.
What I found were a series of characters who were underdeveloped. The novel opened with a battle scene that had enough backstabbing for me to have a lot of difficulty understanding who was supposed to be allied and what was going on.
The prologue was really interesting, and I wish I'd read that book.

It was a mess. By halfway through I found it difficult to pay attention to what I was reading from both confusion and boredom.
After I got through the initially poor writing, this book picked up in speed and intrigue. I'm very curious to know more about the Creators and how Paradise came to be. I feel that the Grey Angel sequences will offer more knowledge in the second volume!
This didn't work for me on many levels, unfortunately. There's something innately cool about knights on dinosaurs, and that coolness carries the book as much as it can, but almost 600 pages of nonsense can't be outweighed by mere cool. Mostly because the knights-on-dinosaurs thing isn't actually as cool in the book as it could have been. For a book with so many characters, none of them really made an impact on me. Almost 600 pages of cardboard characters sort of riding dinosaurs every now and then ... meh.
I'm overly annoyed with the book stating that this isn't Earth, not an alternate Earth, has nothing to do with Earth, and yet it's clearly Earth. I don't know what big reveal is coming in later books about the setting, and frankly, I don't really care. Other books have done the "you think this is a fantasy world, but surprise! Actually Earth!" and they've done it WAY better. It seemed like we were going to get POV from the dinosaurs themselves, which would've been creative and interesting, but we only got two tiny snippets. This book almost put me in a reading slump because I was dreading having to pick it up and keep going, so I finally rage-finished it in one long session. Thank goodness.

Audiobook. Noped out after 45 minutes. DNF and will never be F
An extremely slow, mostly boring read. The good parts (the battles, and almost anything with Jaume) were engaging and the pages flew by - but for the most part, everything else dragged on, largely due to the bilingual aspect of this book. If you don't speak Spanish, prepare to be lost in the sea of words thrown at you including ranks, descriptions, titles, and sometimes full sentences (these, at least, tend to have English translations). Few and far between dinosaur battles were full of dinosaur nicknames that were confusing at first but eventually became familiar, but also great detail and lots of action. There's a lot of political plotting going on, but since half of it is in another language, it's lost on me.
In short, definitely not what I expected/dreamed it would be.

Good dinosaur mounted combat scenes, a few viewpoint characters who are all interesting, some political maneuverings that don't all get explained until later books -- it is definitely setting up for a sequel (or more). Also had some lovely turns of phrase here and there (the whole book was well written but every once in a while there would be a sentence I'd have to read again just to appreciate it more.)
