I liked the premise but I thought it was confusing because there was no attachment to the characters, and way to much mystery about the characters pasts. It felt like I had started in the middle of the series. I also didn’t like how prideful the MC was nor did u like his sense of humor. If it had been from the prince/ kings perspective I would have liked it a lot better.

If you haven't read any iron fey series, I wouldn't start here. There is a good amount of action and the author does some quick ways of recapping throughout, but I think there are some things that feel like inside jokes that without reading previous books would feel stupid.

This book moved pretty quickly. I do like most the characters. At times the book could get a little too childish, but to an expected extent for the target age so I just moved past it.

I picked this up not realizing there was a whole story before this one. You don't need to read the previous series to understand this one. The author does give you just enough background so you understand the relationships between the characters. This story surrounds Puck (aka Robin Goodfellow) and I absolutely loved his voice in this story and I loved the narrator the author chose to voice the audiobook. He brought Puck to life in ways I am not sure another narrator could have.

The story starts with Puck meeting with the king of the forgotten who is trying to warn his mother of a vicious monster that has been lurking in the between. Said monster is a big baddie who makes things worse for Puck along the way. He struggles through most of the book with reverting back to the OG Robin Goodfellow and all the things he had to do to change who he was fundamentally to stop himself from being that person again. It's a quest to once again save the Never Never for this crew and to stop Evenfall.

If you're a fan of the original series with these characters you will likely love this book as well. Having come in without knowledge of the previous books this was still a solid book for me.

Wahhhh!! This is one of my older Netgalley titles and I'm so glad I've finally gotten around to finishing it! And starting the series

This is another 3 ⭐ read and idk if it's just that I've devoted a whole book to the story but I do feel like I have to finish the series now? (Book 2 is also on my Netgalley backlog LOL). I don't especially have strong feelings for the story or characters but the story is like...finding yourself eating something regularly that you once said you'd never eat? 😂 Ok, maybe not so drastic but it's a series that grows on you

In this book we follow the story via Puck's POV. Puck is a jester, a prankster, and he's been around long enough to make a name for himself, not just in the fae world, but the human world too. But his reputation isn't all smiles and giggles. Once his real name Robin Goodfellow struck fear and anger in the hearts of creatures and after battling a mysterious monster bent on destroying the fae realms, Robin Goodfellow is back, horns and hairy hooves and all. Now he and his friends have to journey around the realm to stop this creature while also having no idea how to defeat it!

Puck is a character that's easy to like and I think that's what got me. But there's so much history between the characters (from previous books)! And not all of it is fun or to my liking (love triangles, ick). Still, the book ends with some unexpected? events so I'm curious what will happen next

For the "beginning" of a new series (new arc I think is more accurate), this was ok

It was ok. I liked hearing about Puck but it’s almost not even his story because of how much everyone else is involved. Idk I remember now why I don’t like reading a series until more books are out.

You die as a superhero or watch yourself become a villain... That's how I feel reading the whole iron fae series... As a teen I loved the first 4 books so as an adult I came back to the other parts. And the writing feels soo off. A lot of time there will be something written in one chapter and we get a whole recap of the same thing again. Plus the whole show don't tell thing... The readers are not stupid! The story just didn't feel genuine just another trilogy that Kagawa wants to put but not everything needs to be a trilogy. The best part of the book was when Puck was telling about his past, so maybe a novel with Puck's stories would have been better than the end of the world prophecy. The internal fight with himself was also interesting and the way Ash was speaking to Puck tore me apart. And I just wish just like the old times they would've been three. I couldn't feel any chemistry or romance between Puck and Nyx... As a Puck lover this was such a disappointment.
