King is ruler of the weird. This story was deliciously creepy

The plot is hilarious, a car that eats people? The ending was a bit "I've hit my word limit, OK, let's stop this silliness."

Cute little story, I read it while exercising at the gym. I like when King tells us about the kid who's left behind by some older sibling/parent/carer/etc... and the little kid saves the day on its own.

Listened to this version while motoring for four hours toward the great outdoors. Very entertaining. Glad the rest-stops along the way were well populated!

In Stephen's hands, hands down, cars are just evil!

This was a quick, creepy, and enjoyable little read. The characters weren't particularly awesome (Pete the 10 year old who swears, watches Boardwalk Empire, and drinks vodka wasn't remotely believable) and the insurance guy and the little kids aren't especially vivid or realistic, but the concept is really eerie and very solid. You keep wondering where it will possibly end and how many people will be caught in this trap.

That being said, the ending was absolutely terrible and unsatisfying. I wanted some resolution as to what the car monster was and where it came from, not this abrupt "kbye" style ending. Write a better ending next time, Mr. King.

This story feels like practice for something bigger. Good old Mr. King sure loves to practice!

Mile 81 was a typical Stephen King story, and that's not a bad thing. I'm always amazed at his ability to create a story out of something so small (such as the closing of a rest area). It's about a two hour audiobook -- perfect for a short car trip. Dune is even shorter (only about 30 minutes), but I really liked that story!

Stephen king is daunting so naturally my first read of his was less than 100 pages…

I will definitely revisit Mr. King’s work

tough call for me to be disappointed by the king, but here we are.
