While this book is a delightful and interesting read, the combination of personal and natural history makes the narrative disjointed at times. However, the author success's in transporting the reader to Iceland and its natural history makes this worth the read.

I think this is a fantastic summary of the greatest issues in the climate movement. It goes over some of the more basic concepts and same reports that anyone who frequently reads about this issue will have already seen. I try not to focus on that as a problem of the book because I think it provides clear context and I believe the interconnection between language, nature, personal storytelling, and famous figures makes this really compelling and a new take on climate change. I love reading about Iceland so for that reason I thought this was great!
Ég annað hvort kryddaði matinn minn of mikið eða grét hreinlega út af bókinni sjálfri. Þessi for strax efst á listann yfir bækur sem ég mun neyða alla sem ég þekki til þess að kynna sér.

I woła o reakcję.

One of the most important books of our generation. Putting climate change into words that the lay person can understand. Sounding the alarm for the catastrophes that are occurring now and that await us in the near future if we, as in all of humanity, do not act now. The author does speak of hope -- because it does exist!! -- but we can't wait. We need to combat climate change in the same way that the allies prepared for war in the 1930s and 40s. Read this book, and find ways to do your part.
On Time and Water reads like dystopian fiction but is sadly non-fiction. Magnuson uses stories and his own family’s personal history to illustrate in very clear language just what climate change is doing and will continue to do to the planet.
Magnuson points to apathy towards climate change as perhaps the biggest issue; lifestyle luxuries, convenience and capitalism standing in the way of any meaningful change.
The book is infused with an earnest hope; we have created this problem and we can find our way out of it.
