I liked this book better than the first one. I really enjoyed the progress of the plot and the way their relationship also finally took off!

Despite the fact they were more physical in this book I still knew that Nyfain hesitation for more or commitment to a future had something to do with protecting her from a fate that she was not aware of and as I had predicted back in my book 1 review that they were mates - I was RIGHT. It was so obvious in this book about their mating bond. I also knew she would be a dragon and not just some house cat.

The Demon King finally shows up and I was not impressed with his Demon-ness. He seemed to just want to fuck with Nyfain and hurt him. His end goal is only to cause him pain which makes me think there is so much more to the story, but it also means I am not so impressed with the villain, and it makes me think he might not be the MAIN villain. He let her insult him time and time again - kill his demons and basically didn't lift a finger to harm her or anybody around her. This is suspicious to me....

I hope we find out more especially since she is now on her way to his kingdom and the magic gag is off and secrets can be spilled once she gets back to Nyfain. I also hope we do not get a LONG separation!

I have to say that we finally did get the two of them having sex and wow was it steamy all the way through

I freaking loved this book. I couldn't put it down. Nyfain is so freaking sexy and how he treats Finley is so sweet. Of course he has his rough edges, but tell me one man that doesn't. And the claiming at the end,,, OMG !

I cried throughout the book. There were so many touching parts that made you really latch on to the characters. But the letter at the end of the book from Nyfain to Finley, I balled like a baby. So beautiful.

The way the book ended, made me want to bust open book 3 immediately !!

I absolutely love the writing growth within this second book! There is so much SPICE that you’ll need a cold shower after this one!! Let us just start there. Yes, the first book had spice but man oh man it doesn’t compare to what is provided in this book! I am not a prude at all, but this book had me doing the “did I just read that and enjoy it?”. This book for sure opens you up to the colorful world of “adult hood”.

“I’ll see you tomorrow. Just an hour, okay? I’m trusting you.” He really should’ve known better than to trust a bookworm in a library

Now don’t get me wrong the spice is on point! There is no doubt about that, but the author also gives you more depth within the characters also. You start to build a relationship and an emotional bond with them I feel more in this book then the first. Finley is strong, stubborn, and as witty as always and Nyfain is still an ass who can’t accept his true feelings for Finley. You finally get to learn a little bit more of the cure, the kingdom, who they were before and where they want to be in the end. As always, the emotional tension between Finley and Nyfain is so strong that you honestly just want to throw the book down and say come on already accept what you feel and listen to your animals!

“It isn’t fair to profit from people who don’t have the money to pay when there are lives on the line. Living shouldn’t come with a price tag.”

Besides the spice and the main characters, we do have a little bit more of a world building dynamic in this book then the first. Here we start to see the different towns and the different societies that are involved with this kingdom. We start to incorporate more of a family vibe and a sense of normalcies with the building of the exlirs. Finley and Nyfain are branching out more to help the people with the sickness and showing them how to prosper the best they can while also growing as a joint unit. We are also now involved with the Demon King and his character.

There was a lot in this book, and I can honestly say that it has become a favorite of mine! No longer is this a beauty and the beast retelling, this is its own world and story. I cannot wait until the third book is out so I can devour is!

| shifters | SPICY | LIKE, VERY SPICY | dark fairytale | enemies to lovers | fated mates | dragon shifter | humorous | strong FMC | forbidden love | star-crossed lovers | beauty and the beast | alpha |

Okay, so listen- I had criticisms of the first book. Nonetheless, I was intrigued so I kept reading. THIS SERIES TURNS UP. Worth it. If you can get with dark fantasy and you like spice, you’ll love this. Keep reading.

This book cleared up the two things I took issue with, fully resolved them. I love this series, I am so needy for me. I think the plot has really made some big moves in this book and I can’t wait to see where this takes us.

I also adore Finley. I think she is strong and not one to be crossed. I love her strength, I love her attitude, cunning, and absolute appetite for knowledge. She is putting this kingdom on her back, cashin’ checks, and breakin’ necks- literally.

I also love the world, it is quite unique, and full of crazy quirks and characters. It is definitely giving utter chaos in a fun and exciting way. If you are a fan of Katee Robert, you will like this.

This is my first time reading K.F. Breene’s writing and I am a fan so far. Granted I did take some issues with Book 1, but thats the beauty of a series, it grows.

I am so excited to read the rest of this series and hopefully some other series by this author.

What a ride!!

Happy Reading Friends xx

Це настільки погано, що я навіть не знаю, з чого почати. Навіть сцени сексу були незрозумілими й абсурдними (і не в смішному сенсі — просто безглуздими). Суцільний кринж.

This is definitely better than the first. The lore is more developed and the plot just gets thicker and thicker! It’s still lacking a bit of logic and the character development doesn’t feel very natural.. Nyfain becomes all goey and Finley becomes ultra powerful and badass. Which is totally fine, but I’m not entirely sure how much time has passed for this to be achievable realistically… it does mention a few months passing so I guess they’ve been together almost a year? I don’t know.

Either way, I’m trash and I loved it. Thank the gods the third book comes out next month!

If I thought the first book was a bit overboard, I was in for a surprise. The plot is headed in a wonderful direction, but there’s so much erotic detail that it became overwhelming and slightly annoying at times - like it was thrown in for no reason. The characters are, again, absolutely fabulous. I enjoy the interaction and conversations. It continues to be witty and funny when necessary. The last third is when it finally really pushes the plot forward, gets intense, and drives the stakes even higher, literally at the end!!!… that’s the book I was looking for.

So, I should start by saying I almost didn't bother with this book. The first one was just a 2.5 star read for me, but I enjoyed the characters and the plot still had a lot of potential. I decided to give this book a go.

Pros:
Finley is a strong character and interesting. I appreciate that she's not just the stereotypical reader, but truly a scientist. She's strong while still feminine, and she has plenty of flaws.

The curse causing illness that Finley and Nyfain with together to combat in other villages is a strong plot point. It also deals with class systems and medical care being a card human right.

The humor and witty dialogue is great.

The supporting characters are good and add to the story without distracting from the main plot

Cons:
So. Many. Sexcapades.

The plot is interesting!! THIS is what I was expecting of a romance novel. The characters still are a little one note, but I didn’t expect some great literary masterpiece in picking up a romance novel series. I picked it up because it was going to be new and entertaining.

The story continues as Nyfain and Finley work together to create elixirs to save the kingdom from the demon curse. Finely and Nyfain are really a couple in this book, which I loved. The ending of this book was just insane. I thought it was a great way to transition into the next book. I thought that Finley finding out that Nyfain was her true mate was so cute. I also hate Jedrick. He’s so damn annoying. I hate the demon king and I just want Nyfain and Finely to rightfully rule their kingdom. I can’t wait to finish this series.
