I enjoyed this story. But.

There was one particular love story that I was not a fan of. This particular person needs to give their significant other the waitstaff test. You know the one. See how they treat other people (i.e. waitstaff) when you're not around and that will tell you if they're a good person. Ugh. Really didn't care for this piece.

The rest was great. Maybe a little slow but I loved the idea of the dragon trapped inside the person and the world building and back stories. The other love story was so swoon worthy. Great job of making the Villains character one that you wish the worst on.

So....
World building-                      Yes
Romance-                               Yes/No
Pacing-                                    OK
Character Devleopment-     Yes
Ending-                                    Yes

Liked it enough that I will continue the series. Speaking of...anyone know when the second comes out?

I really really loved this! It was fast paced and it kept my attention. I picked it up on a whim because I wanted to deinfluence my reading somewhat, and I'm so glad I did. It was funny, engaging, it was in many ways your kind of typical romantasy, however I found the world-building and the magic system in particular a lot more complex than other romantasies I have read. I did take me a minute to kind of settle into the world and the magic system and the politics of it all but once I did that I had a blast. I loved all the characters and I appreciated all their points of view within the book. I also appreciated the depiction of PTSD thought I can't comment on the accuracy of it. Also Vitaly Rysakov the man you are!!
Nothing sexier then a man who loudly loves his wife
But also Vasilisa, that girl had me swooning. Safe to say thoroughly enjoyed!

This book ruined the word cacophony for me.

The end of this was really good, as the action started to happen and the romance was realised, but the first half was slow and while I didn't feel confused, it felt like we were just put into this world with no explanations. It wasn't bad or anything, it was just a bit lacking.
