Unputdownable. Was certain that i’d give it a 4 star, until the very last chapter - ding, ding, ding! 5 stars, wow.

i absolutely loved this. it was so introspective, i loved how the author did not lead you to believe one way or another. they simply told a story, and you can take it as you want. i loved the multiple POV’s and how they all related to the death row inmate. the ending was so beautiful.

Even though I am sick, I read this book in a day. Had I felt better I would have finished it in half a day. I love True Crime and this book, even though entirely fiction, reads as that genre.

Saffaron and Ansley both grew up in foster care. One rises through the ranks of the NYHP, the other is on death row. This book goes through the last day of Ansley's life. It looks at all the women, who have taken some part in his life.

It is heart wrenching, realistic and shows the choices we make in our life ultimately define us. I would pass it if you like happy endings, or genres other than suspense, crime, or true crime. ‼️There is violence toward women‼️

😊 Happy Reading 📚😊

It took me a few chapters to get into this book. The writing is a little stilted and choppy, but it felt intentional. As a way to get into the head of Ansel.
I deeply appreciated how Notes on an Execution told the story primarily through the eyes of the women who were in his orbit.
It’s a story of grief and abuse, and reflects on how we perceive good and evil. It’s an emotionally challenging book.

wow. I loved this book beyond. It is in my top 5 reads of this year for sure! Halfway through I was getting a little wary of my love for it because
Saffy being the detective on his trail after being in foster care with him as a child
was a bit much for me. BUT that was crucial to his story and the whole thing was redeemed enough in the end for me that I gave this an easy five stars. Be warned that it is a very visceral, emotional read. Particularly if you are someone who is
opposed to the death penalty
Very nuanced and a ton of wisdom/insight/importance to be found within the story!
