Same world, new facet
If you’ve read any of the Supernatural Prison Books, then you will recognize this world - and even one character. If you haven’t, no worries - this is a new addition to that growing world and can be read with prior experience.
Maddison is thrown head first into a world she didn’t expect, but fortunately, there are a few gentle souls to help catch her - and one very intense pair of Atlantean eyes. It’s magical, convoluted and academy rich enough to satisfy even the most ardent of magical school fans.
Pros:
- LOVE this world and how it grows with each new addition.
- Louis.... he’s barely a character here, but I still squealed.
- The Atlantean five.... almost too powerful for one school. Not a bully book though, rest easy. Nor is it RH, sadly.
Cons:
- Foreshadowing gets a bit blatant.
- Perfect RH set up.... but nope.

“You’re diff—”
“If you say different,” I interrupted, “I’m going to punch you. Don’t separate me out from other women. They’re my people.”
A fun urban fantasy by Janine Eve.
Maddison finds out she’s a supernatural and gets a scholarship to supernatural college. Her powers are sealed but flare with stress. There are five guys and she’s attracted to the baddest one.
It seems to be a theme from this author. This isn’t a reverse harem.
It’s set in the same world as the dragon prison series.
Recommended if you are in the mood for a new adult fantasy.

Year one
This book had me hooked from start to finish. I loved the basis of the story. Maddi is a bad A chick and I can’t wait to see her fully unleashed. I hate that her and Asher fought each other for so long but the fact that he did it to protect her makes me love him even more. I love maddi and Asher together but I also love the relationships between the whole group of guys. I can’t wait to see what happens next.

I was very surprised at how much I liked this book! It had relatable elements which helped. Super bummed when I learned that the next installment isn’t out. Easy fun read and boy those 5 Atlanteans...yes please :)

Absolutely LOVED the heroine for how realistically she was portrayed. Typically in books like this where the heroine is introduced to a whole new world, they're too reckless and impractical, they don't ask questions properly. They jump in without any regard to how much knowledge and power they actually have, which always annoys me a little as that is not relatable at all, the same way horror movie characters aren't relatable. So the change of pace was really nice as this heroine is basically a cross between Harry Potter and Hermione Granger in terms of how she reacted to being introduced to a new world. She wasn't unnecessarily reckless or taking chances that put others at risk. She took all the preparation she could and had actual interest in learning new stuff on her own rather than having the typical "oh I'll deal with it when it's directly in front of me, punching me in the face"-attitude.
All in all, a practical heroine REALLY made this book stand out for me. I only wish I had started after all the books got released, but who knows how long that'll take.

This book is so good. Jaymin is superb with writing a story full of heat, intrigue, and humor. Maddison is the type of underdog character for whom you can’t help but cheer and this book is a great example of an academy book. Looking forward to more!
