I adore Priscilla and Elvis so of COURSE I had to read this. I loved her side of the story and found it fascinating hearing how she met Elvis so young and he shaped her into his perfect wife ?? Pretty cooked when you think about it. Despite this though Priscilla writes about him with a lot of love and admiration which I found very touching. She reveals a lot about her life her struggles her affairs and when she realised she had a life of her own was a truly moving chapter.
A must read for any Lana Del Rey Stans or anyone hoping to watch the new Sofia Coppola film. I love Priscilla even more after reading this book and hope I can visit Graceland someday.
4/5 stars because idk how much was ghostwritten but I loved it and it felt like a very entertaining book that I sped read.

As someone who didn’t grow up during Elvis’ rise to fame, it was interesting to see how the times have changed. There are so many social normals that no longer apply, and I’m inclined to think it’s for the best.
I think the most startling thing to read about was the manipulation and power dynamic Elvis had over Priscilla — not only because he was the one who was famous, but also because he was 10 years her senior.
It was an overall good read and interesting to get Priscilla’s perspective of Elvis’ duality rather than those that like to go to the extremes and either boast about his fame or put him down for his constant drug use.
Ultimately, I enjoyed reading this because I was glad to see Priscilla going through her trauma and realizing that both her and Elvis’ had their problems, but they sadly chose to avoid it at the time. Whether or not it was because they couldn’t due to their dynamic — to admit their faults at the time, or because it just wasn’t commonplace to communicate properly and talk things out back then. Despite everything, though, Priscilla still loves him, and that’s a beautiful thing.

So many of these stories were distributing and unsettling to read, but told so bluntly and honestly. Not focusing too much on the good or the bad, just a well told and vulnerable story.

I REALLY enjoyed this book. I honestly didn’t think I would or that I would find it full of just eye rolling information. It helped, I think, that I recently watched Priscilla’s movie prior to reading. I listened to the book (on Libby for free) and I think that is the best way to do it. Priscilla reads the book herself and I found it gave a more passionate storytelling. She giggles, she outright laughs and at one point you can hear her choke up. It was very passionately read and I appreciate her for doing it. I found it very interesting to hear her perspective on their relationship, her family and how she grew into herself (with and without Elvis). I recommend this book even if you want just a peak into their lives. She gives so much. I appreciate all of the information she gave to us. She certainly didn’t have to.

Kind of confused by the epilogue where she said she wanted to share her stories of Elvis so people would see him in a positive light, after an entire book that outlines what a shitty man he was… Happy for Priscilla if she’s been able to work through her trauma and abuse, but I’m strictly in the I hate EP club
