I'm going to be honest, at firstbI didn't like this book and thought about not finishing it more than once. I'm no quitter, though, so I kept reading. By the end, I found myself enjoying Dani's story. I never understood the connection between Lachlan and Dani, as it felt forced IMO.
Dani growing as person was incredible. What she went through was just....too much. And Ansel as her best friend was perfection. I loved their relationship.
I'm giving this 4 stars as I feel Dani's story deserves it. And, after her growth as a person, I felt like the love story deserved it too.

A solid five stars! It’s been a while since I picked up a book I couldn’t put down. This book grabs you from the start and doesn’t let go. Great characters, great storyline, and wonderful pacing.
This book will give you a book hangover in the best way. It’s good to stay with me for a while.

Sooo not going to lie. I lost interest halfway through. Honestly the majority of the time I was wishing she'd fall for Ansel.
i choose this life. i choose him. i choose us. and that’s a pinky promise.
their love was everything. the way lachlan loved dani was the sweetest, most pure love in the world. it made my heart ache to have something just like it one day.
the only negative thing i have to say is how drawn out this book was. there were definitely times i got frustrated and started skimming and not fully reading the words on each page. but! despite that, i adored “sweet dandelion” and will probably, most likely, definitely reread her one day. :)

Dandelion (or Dani as she prefers to be called) was the victim of one of the most tragic and traumatic events a child can endure: a school shooting. I thought Micalea did a good job of highlighting the trauma and survivors guilt that school shooting survivors can feel and how hard it is to grow past that. I really liked that Dani worked through her trauma with Lachlan but ultimately had to learn how to work through it on her own.
I had such high hopes for this one, and while it was a good and well-written book, I was disappointed. For such a big book, I felt the relationship development was lackluster. By the end, I never thought I got enough of the two together. While I felt a connection with Dani on her own, I did not feel a connection with Lachlan and Dani together. I did enjoy certain aspects of the book, and I think it worked through certain traumas well, but I was left wanting more.

Hold on a second. My head is spinning with so many thoughts about this story. Wow. Throughout the book I felt an assortment of emotions while learning about Dandelion’s excruciating past. Then continuing to read about how hunted and trapped she still feels in the present. The storytelling throughout the book was so powerful, it left me speechless. This story grabbed my attention and I didn’t want to put it down to find out what happened next. Everything was perfectly placed and I was left wanting more.

yet, somehow, i still enjoyed this book throughly. i’d say more like 3.75 stars but it was an easy, quick read with a life lesson trying to blossom throughout the whole thing. didn’t hate it, didn’t love it, but it was good.

This book has such a beautiful story, especially if you love age gap. It follows an 18 year old girl on her journey to adapt to her new life in a new city and school. Due to unforeseen circumstances Dandelion moves in with her brother and is made to go back to school to finish Senior Year. Dandelion has overcome so much for such a young girl and has had to endure the pain on loosing someone very important to her on top of other terrible tragedies that she's encountered. This book is honestly, to this day, one of the best books I have ever read in my life. The love story is perfect and everything unfolds in such an organic way that you're rooting for these characters the entirety of the book. Not once do you even think that this girl is getting groomed by someone in a higher position, because that's not what happens. Like I said the way the story develops in such an organic way and takes course over a year. This is not insta-love but it's also not a slow burn you get to see the Counselor-Student side of things then the friendship aspect and lastly the romance. Micalea does an amazing job of delivering this story and making you understand every single action behind every emotion. There were so many moments where I felt the characters were real and I was reading a true story. Obsessed with this book.
