If you are looking for a book that is fast paced or full of action, this book isn’t for you. This is a book about grief and depression, surviving and coping. You follow Abbey in the weeks/months following the death of her best friends as she does her best to emotional deal and go through her life.

I wanted to like this book, really. I thought it's a dark fantasy with no happy ending and with a serious, sad theme. But this story is a boring mix of a cook and a hobby book. I can't really describe how much I hated this story, because after 500 pages nothing really happened, I couldn't find the big plot. It's a first book of a trilogy, OK, but there isn't much fantasy in this, maybe I'll find it in the next installment? It has an interesting element, the horror town thing, but Verday couldn't use it. I gave two stars, because there IS potency to be a better book, and has no happy-sloppy ending. (But I can't believe it they publish a book where the plot is nonexistent: the main character just eats, sleeps, cooks and goes to school in 500 pages.)

SECOND READ: super cheesy but I LOVE IT OKAY??

FIRST READ: okay, i fucking loved this book. i loved the way verday slowly built up to the climax, leaving us little hints and clues as to what would happen in the future. i also loved the ending, which talked about the red hair (total foreshadowing).

Caught me by surprise. If you liked Amy Plum's "Die for me" series, you'll definitely like this.

This book was pretty cool I liked it in everything I really enjoyed the relationship between caspian and Abby I thought it was adorable even though I saw the insta love combing the second I opened the book.

I just wished would have focused more about what happened to Kristina like Abby spends a whole two chapters looking for clues finds a clue then does nothing with it literally goes no where after that just leaves it there like hey she met a dude name D. Then I was just waiting for the end cause I knew it was going to be some big clue about her death leading into the second book and I got nothing.

All the things that happen about the headless horseman at the end felt just thrown in there to tie the story to the headless horseman story into the overall story it was just random but random enough to make me want the second book.

amazing even the fourth time round

it kinda drags

I read this book many years ago when I was a young teen and remembered liking it! Reading it again, I found it to be an enjoyable quick read.
It has many elements of your typical YA supernatural romance but I still found it interesting and entertaining.
The setting of the novel is very atmospheric as it takes place in a small town during fall.
I found the writing really easy to read in a good way and it really sucked me in.
The plot could have developed quicker though as there was a lot of scenes that were not really necessary and just made the book longer.
I also didn’t mind the main character Abbey and her point of view was enjoyable to read for me. She pretty funny at made me laugh at some points. I also found it interesting how she had a hobby of making perfumes and loved reading the scenes about that.
The romance was ok but I wish there was a little more to it.
I wish I read this in October to get the whole spooky experience!

I really wanted to like this book but it was just okay. Don’t get me wrong it’s well written but the plot just isn’t there. You could completely take out the fact that her friend died and the plot wouldn’t have changed at all. I hated how half way through the book she just stops looking for what happened to her. We have ideas of what the author alluded to but it’s very vague and it made me mad that we didn’t get closure (maybe in the rest of the series they go over it but I won’t be reading them) on what really happened. It also bothered me how quickly Caspian and Abbey fall in love. It was too quick and too forced. Or the fact that they explain everything in the last 5-10% of the book. It was very quick, abrupt, and really gave no closure. Granted I enjoyed reading it but like it also drove me a little nuts.
