As an Indian, I really enjoyed this book. I understand the need to present the cliche Indian family stereotype to drive the point and I loved the angle of having parental support. I even teared up a little at the end. Really enjoyed this! 😊

I really enjoyed this entry to The Trouble with Hating You series!

This is a second chance romance, which tend to be my least favorite romance troupe. But this had me forgetting I hate the troupe so much! This entry focuses on Preeti and Daniel. They dated for years starting in college. Daniel was the love of Preeti's life until she broke up with him out of nowhere and has been running from him since. 6 years later, Preeti is finishing her residency, trying to find a job, and forgetting to find a new apartment. Eventually a short term apartment falls into her lap, the only problem is she also has a new roomie - Daniel.

In this novel the characters have to overcome cultural and family obstacles, stigmas associated with mental illness, and the apartment having ONLY ONE BED. It's a mix of heavier and lighter topics, similar to the style of Patel's last novel. This time we only get Preeti's point of view, and while I prefer a dual POV romance, in this case the single POV was the correct choice. I continue to enjoy this series and will 100% pick up the next entry when it's published!

I liked that Preeti was struggling with anxiety, but at times her inner monologue got to be too repetitive and I would get frustrated with her. (Bc Daniel was so clearly the right choice and she was constantly blaming herself for what other people were doing instead of sticking up for herself) when she finally DOES stick up for herself I was thrilled and really loved that her parents supported her fully.
I don’t know much about Preeti’s culture so it was great to see what Indian culture in America can be like from an author that is also from that culture. And I’m glad the book didn’t shy away from real issues, such as slut shaming, racism, anxiety, and class.
Daniel was a sweetie and I loved Preeti and Daniel together! (We love a one bed trope!)

It was also so fun to be in the same world as The Trouble with Hating You! I was so happy to see Liya after her story finished and thriving. And loved her part in Preeti and Daniel getting back together. I lived for the drama with her.
