Very unlikable characters. Story was decent until the ending, which made no sense at all.

if thoughts are contagious, so are stories and obsessions. I devoured the audiobook of this obsessive tale. you are a true crime podcast host who disappeared. the main character disappeared to find you, following the clues in your episodes to your family’s ranch near a tiny town. she starts to learn of other women who have disappeared from the ranch and tries to get close to the people who knew you.

I really liked the narrative style of this story and the eerie rural setting, where everyone knows (almost) everything about everyone, and where there are only so many suspects.

there, “it’s easy for a man to be good, just like it’s easy for a woman to be crazy.”

Sera is obsessed with the “Murder, She Spoke” podcast, so when the host, Rachel, goes missing, Sera wants to find her. Sera goes the ranch where Rachel lived with her parents, gets hired for a job there, and starts her search with the tips she learned from Rachel’s true crime podcast. A reading of the synopsis of If I Disappear will draw readers in, but the execution of the plot is lacking. Sera’s motive, or lack thereof, is not believable. She is not a writer or a detective; she is just an obsessed fan who steps into the life of the woman she admires, and the other characters just let her do it. Ultimately, the idea of this novel is better than the disappointing character development and unsatisfying ending.

This book was fucking weird. An obsessive fan of a true crime podcaster realizes that Rachel has not posted online in a while - she’s gone totally quiet. Sera decides she just wants to see where Rachel lives - the town, her family’s farm, and see if she’s okay. But when she realizes she can move ONTO the farm, she does. And she begins her own investigation into the missing case of Rachel - and soon to be many others.

This book had such a weird, energy, that I don’t want to rate it. If you like missing persons meets small town drama, this is for you.

I don’t read too many adult books, but this cover was just too beautiful to not pick up! I was so intrigued by the synopsis and it DID NOT disappoint! The first person perspective, the setting, the plot line, the twists, the suspicions just made this book go round! It was so unique and yet so relevant to today’s time period. I rate “If I Disappear” by: Eliza Jane Brazier, 5/5 stars!

Sara was....

She was annoying. The only reason I kept listening (audiobook) was me wondering is she a psychotic stalker that imagine all of this. Is she in a mental institution?

This unlikable character and at the end she's still unlikable....

Pretty good most of the way through but I wasn’t a huge fan of the ending.

I liked this book until the ending- it got a little too convoluted and felt rushed/sloppy. The development in the middle of the story was really well done though- fast pacing. The mother reminds me of Darlene from Ozark. This may be one of those stories that translates better on-screen than in a book.
