I found the premise of the book interesting, but I was greatly disappointed. The whole story felt like a fanfiction written by a teenager. Everything happened way too fast and things weren't explained in detail (or at all). I just didn't like it.

I have no idea what I expected but this book was kinda heavy and just made me sad through out the entire book which is not ideal.
I'm not the biggest fan of contemporary but I still hope one day I can find one that is the best thing in life and makes me give it 5 stars and re-read it when I feel sad, or happy or meh.

Oakley hasn't used her voice for 11 years, too scared to speak for fear of exposing a secret from the past that would tear her world apart. I reread this book because I read it when I was 11 or 12 and I don't think I understood properly the issues and atrocities Oakley had to face. The end is truly heartbreaking, especially the fact her mum and brother had to find out what happened. Though I must say that it being set in England is strange since the school system used was not the actual system, and that removed authenticity. I did love the relationship between Oakley and Cole, it was so genuine, and a good teen romance. The book was a bit rushed but it was still enjoyable. I would recommend this book, but with very heavy content warnings.

This book deals with trauma, abuse and a secret. Silence. Oakley couldn't talk, but nobody knew why, except for one person in her life. She hasn't spoken for eleven years and she doesn't see that changing until she's faced with her trauma and abuser again and realizes, she can't stay silent any longer. This book left me with a pit in my stomach, chills and tears. I couldn't stop reading, I had to know what happened. I was kept on my toes with the anticipation of learning what happened.

"It was strange how total silence could mean so much."

This book sounded like a teenager wrote it. That’s both a good and bad thing. The writing was very blocked for me and apart from a couple moments, I found the story all but predictable.

This book however does deal with an issue not many book deal with and I praise the Author for accurately displaying the thoughts of someone in this situation.

I went into this book thinking it was a stand-alone and it’s a series. I’m humming about whether or not to read the next book but this book was enjoyable.

This book is a love story like no other. Feelings dont necessarily come from talking. You can tell someone you love them just by actions or expressions, and that is what this book is all about. ive been obsessed with all of natashas books and to have her write a story like this is amazing.
