Even though it's the 2nd book in the series, this is the 1st Card book I ever read. Brilliant BRILLIANT book. One of my all-time favorites. Just exceptional.

I do not know why it has taken me 25 years and a husband who finally bought it on Audible to read this book, but what a story! I am once again floored by the artful storytelling of Orson Scott Card. In this novel, I so appreciated the depth of questions around good/evil, life/death, right/wrong that he wrestled with and how he allowed the messiness of creation and human relationships to be exposed and simply left unresolved. The characters, motivations, relationships, hopes and dreams revealed throughout this novel are so honest and so steeped in humanity and apparently it was exactly what I needed in this moment of my life. An entertaining and thought-provoking read...as always with Scott Card.

Very different from the first one, but REALLY good. I'm excited for the resolution from this one to blow up in their faces for the third one.

Even though I really liked the plot and all the characters, some parts of it do not seem convincing to me: names and words like "Novinha" or "Bosquinha". I don't know man, I don't feel like people would actually call them like that, but then again in the real world we've got Ronaldinho and Juninho. But still though

If you're reading the ender series, and want to end on a great note. Just stop here otherwise you're committed. The books fall off deep after this one.

This was better than Ender's Game!
