Story is okay.
Writing is terrible.
The name dropping of serial killers and other notable true crime events was WAY over the top. Author is a true crime podcaster and used to be an autopsy technician. We get it. Adding details about serial killers from the past was completely unnecessary to the story. And the in depth science of being a medical examiner/autopsy technician is interesting at first, but when it’s repeated half a dozen times, it gets to be annoying.

I was lukewarm about the book. It felt like a debut novel to me, which isn't a criticism, but felt like the author was still learning her craft. It kept my interest, although several times I felt the story was a little implausible.

Overall the book was pretty good, and the setting was well described and played into the story.

I received a complimentary copy of the novel from the publisher and NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.

Listened to this in one day riding back from the beach. Very thrilling and anxiety-provoking. Made me feel like I was in the story. Very well-crafted for a first-time story!

This was okay. There was nothing that made me want tonread book 2

A fast-paced, easy to read serial killer book. I will definitely continue with the series.

(Audio) This was so juicy, and I was probably more surprised than I should have been at the twists. I wish this had been longer - I would have preferred a little more time in the second half because the ending felt a bit rushed.
