I’ve never read a more relatable memoir in my entire life. This book will give anyone who has struggled with CPTSD hope and knowledge that you are not alone.

I really liked this book. It was encouraging, helpful, and informative without making me feel bad about myself, which medical books on ptsd/cptsd tend to do as they lack experience and empathy. I just wish I had a physical copy to keep my notes.  Library problems!

I really enjoyed this book. Stephanie’s journey towards healing and self-realization was so incredible and inspiring. As someone who has also been diagnosed with cptsd it was like hearing a big sister give the road map. Of course it deals with really heavy topics, but so does life.

Memoirs are not something I usually gravitate towards, but I really enjoyed this.

Naturally this is going to be a difficult and probably triggering read for anyone with a myriad of trauma, whether the cause is similar to the author’s or not. I really appreciated the emphasis on “healing” in community, through our relationships with other people. The last 15% or so did start to feel a bit boring, and the last chapter was a throwaway to me.

This book made me think of all the people I love and want to reach out to them. I think I’ll be recommending this to a lot of people.

Absolutely stunning and beautiful book. I teared up several times. A hugely cool thing about the audiobook is that the actual recordings from sessions were included! It was amazing to listen to Doc’s voice, to really understand how Foo was describing him! I learned a lot about CPTSD and also how bodies react to trauma. I would recommend this book before The Body Keeps the Score (and also will be doing research about that author, now!!)
