I read this book in two days. I underlined and flagged so many sections. I could not put it down. Stephanie Foo’s writing voice is stunning. I feel like I learned more about complex and trauma and healing from this book than I have from any Psych book or therapy. I already know I will come back to her words many, many times.

I don't know that I have ever related to a book more than I did this one. There were times when the author seemed to be describing exactly how I feel or react to something. While this was a tough read for me and made me cry more then a few times it also gave me so much hope and insight. If I could rate it more then 5 stars I would.

Transformative book,  for both the author,  and any reader open to what she is telling us. Highly likely to be triggering to anyone with cptsd. I had to set it down and take a break multiple  times. But I also learned so much,  about myself and about others.  the audio version is well-done too. Foo works in radio and podcasts, and you can tell.  Hugest recommendation! just please check content warnings first.

Thank you to #NetGalley and Ballantine Books for an advance copy of #WhatMyBonesKnow by Stephanie Foo.

One of my favorite books of this year. This book is such a raw, vulnerable, and beautiful examination of mental health and trauma.

I listened to this audiobook which is narrated by the author and includes recordings of therapy sessions. I highly recommend listening to this rather than reading it, but any way is good. Also don’t take all of her own truths or “facts” to heart and explore more recent articles on CPTSD if you are feeling hopeless. This is an incredibly moving and powerful read.

I really liked this book. It was encouraging, helpful, and informative without making me feel bad about myself, which medical books on ptsd/cptsd tend to do as they lack experience and empathy. I just wish I had a physical copy to keep my notes.  Library problems!
