Thunder Rising by Erin Hunter

It seems to me that Clear Sky and Grey Wing have lost their way. Lack of communication and fear might end up destroying them both. Thunder is definitely a stronger individual then both his dad and his uncle. It was a good read, and the characters feel real enough that I feel disappointed in some of their behaviors. It's also fascinating how Erin Hunter portrays a cat's view of humans and our mistakes.

I know Warriors doesn't really pay attention to genetics, but Lightning Tail, as a male kitten of a female ginger, should have been orange. Then again, Hawk Swoop should have had two ginger parents in order to be ginger herself, and two gray cats made a ginger (Thunder), so...

I liked it, though Clear Sky is getting more and more annoying. I also don't like Wind Runner or Tall Shadow that much. Surprisingly, I wasn't all too upset at Thunder. I can understand him--he was rejected by his father when he was a child, and still yearns for his father's approval. I'm glad he eventually realized that his father is a terrible cat and to go back to the cat who actually cared for him. At last, Gray Wing overcomes his MC denseness. It would've been annoying if Hunter dragged out his obliviousness for any longer.
The bonus scene about River Ripple was pretty boring. I wonder how this will last 4 more books.

Since I feel exactly the same about this book as I do about the previous installment, I decided to copy-paste the review I gave that one.

I just can't with the writing style. It's so basic, bland, dull, monotonous, repetitive, you name it. The same applies to literally everything about this book. I don't like it. I don't feel any of the stakes, and all the events feel uneventful. It's a no from me. 5/10

I enjoyed this book a lot. The series continues to have a good amount of action. That being said, I docked a star and a half because it continues the same flaws as the first book. Lots of she cats are the ones to die, especially mothers. Sad that one of the cats I grew fond of didn't make it past this book.

Clan life is slowly developing into what we were introduced to in the first series.

Right now I don't know who I'd want to fight more: Tigerheart or Clear Sky.

Greateful second Part of the fifth series of Warrior Cats. It ist like the first Part VERY emotional, but that's just part of it, it's Warrior Cats after all!

So far, “Dawn of the Clans” hasn’t been as great as I was hoping. I’ve gotten used to the pattern in the latest Warrior cats series where the first three books are full of potential, while the last three fall flat. (This is exemplified, in my opinion, by both “A Vision of Shadows” and “The Broken Code.”) I liked “Thunder Rising” much more than “The Sun Trail” (because I’m more attached to the characters now and like the intensifying drama), but I’m still holding out hope that the series will pick up in the second half. The good thing about Warrior cats is that, even when I’m not impressed by a particular book overall, I enjoy finding out what happens next and can usually find at least one scene or character that stands out to me. Right now, those characters are probably Jagged Peak and Turtle Tail. I fear for what might happen to them next, but I love the unconventional family structure they have created together! I also want to keep going, because I’ve yet to meet certain cats I know will be important, like Moth Flight and Star Flower. Every time new kittens are introduced or another rogue appears, I’m listening to MacLeod Andrews narrating at the edge of my seat!
