Didn’t like it the first time and just solidified why I didn’t like it the second time. Declan is an ass and money gift doesnt change that.

Declan Kane wants to become CEO of the family business, but his grandfather's inheritance clause claims he first has to marry and produce an heir. An impossible mission, until his assistant Iris volunteers. They draw up a contract that states they'll play in love in public, without any real feelings mixed in. Since they already spend so much time together at work this shouldn't be a problem. Right?
Both Declan and Iris have grown up with abusive fathers. While Iris' father is out of the picture, Declan's is the current CEO. And Seth Kane is truly a bastard, to say the least... Declan lives for his job, is generally asocial and never lets anyone close. Iris is one of few who dares question him, and she's best friends with his brother Cal. I'm grateful we have dual POV, otherwise Declan's behavior would have been hard to understand at times.
The book has several tropes I like: grumpy/sunshine, fake marriage and slow burn romance. I also like that we have a white man and a black woman (with dyslexia). I'm usually a bit hesitant to the boss/assistant trope, since the balance of power is skewed, but I think Asher solves this in a satisfying way.
[Small spoiler]
What I DON'T like is the unnecessary 3rd act breakup. In my opinion Declan acts horrible towards Iris and he gets away with it too easy. The ending also felt a bit rushed. I prefer slightly less steam in the s*x scenes than what I got here, but that's really not an issue.

gotta be honest, i wasn't really itching to read this book because I thought 'The Fine Print' was just okay. no hate to Rowan and Zahra, obviously, i just found that some parts dragged on longer than necessary. but i'm so glad i have this one a chance bc IT WAS SO GOOD. the only thing that i didn't like was the female narrator of the audiobook. her voice made me wanna throw something through a window at times. I liked Declan's POV more because I actually preferred the male narrators Iris voice than the females. other than that, LOVED IT.
man oh man do i love a marriage of convenience trope. especially when it has a morally grey mmc who insists on calling the fmc "my wife" when he didn't even want the marriage in the first place. but let's be honest, Declan was in love with Iris the whole time. he knew about her dyslexia and made the workplace easier for her without her even knowing. HE MADE THE ENTIRE OFFICE SWITCH THE FONT THEY USE IN EMAILS TO MAKE IT EASIER FOR HER TO READ!! and then after their first big fight, HE GETS HER A DOG, A MINIVAN, AND A HOUSE WITH A GREEN HOUSE IN THE BACKYARD. THEN HE PROCEEDS TO PROPOSE TO HER JUST THE WAY HE DESCRIBED WHEN THEY FIRST AGREED TO GET FAKE MARRIED. SORRY FOR THE ALL CAPS BUT IM SCREAMING. anyway...
something that i really liked about this book is that it showed a female main character who's go-to reaction is to run when things get hard. we see a lot of male characters (and men irl) do that but females have that instinct too and it's important to show that (not at all because i relate in anyway to avoiding relationships bc they're hard sometimes what no not me never).
this book has everything:
-fake marriage
-angst
-HOT SEX
-main characters with daddy issues
-a safari honeymoon
-a crazy plant mom
-did i mention hot sex?

This one fell flat for me. Yes we love Declan and when he shows his soft side for Iris, but the premise maybe just hit a little too close to home (I’m an assistant to a millionaire). Idk it was just too unbelievable to me that they have been in each other’s presence for 3+ years and it took them getting fake married to realize their love?? Like not sure. I don’t buy it.

4.25⭐
After hating The Fine Print so much that I couldn't finish it, I am really surprised with how much I liked Terms and Conditions.
I think a massive factor in contributing to why I liked this book was Iris.
Iris didn't put up with Declan's attitude. When Declan was a complete jerk, she left on a private jet and gave her work resignation which reinforced how much I liked her. However, she did love Declan and was really soft towards him ❤️. She was everything I wanted from a female main character in this situation.
Declan did scream 'Privileged Jerk' at times which irked me. However, I liked him so much more than Rowan. A factor of why I liked him more, is that I could understand and felt I could tolerate his actions and attitude from the glimpses we got of his background. He didn't fulfill everything I wanted of him but I have to admit, I did like him a lot at times. I loved seeing his soft spot for Iris: it was so cute.
Having Cal in this book made me feel more interested in this book. Can I just say his friendship with Iris was so adorable
