3.5; very delightful though it could’ve gone further with the characters
usually i have fun reading an unexpected pregnancy trope but the romance between the mc’s felt lacking. also, the writing at times felt immature. i didn’t quite understand why jude chose to keep his issues with his family a secret from lia, especially at the bar scene. the first book and even the second at times hinted at the close bond lia had with her best friend finn, yet he was hardly mentioned in this book and i would’ve liked to see more from him, even though he was busy with residency and in a relationship of his own.
however, found family is my favorite trope and i like the wards sibling dynamic a lot so it made for a pretty enjoyable read.

I am going to say what everyone was thinking when they read this book. JUDE? That is the name the author chose? I have NEVER met an attractive Jude before. I almost DNF's the book right there when I saw his name was Jude. Also, I really didn't understand the whole dynamic with his family hating him playing soccer. Just seemed bizarre but I accepted it and moved on. Also, I kind of hoped she would have moved to England but I understand her wanting to be with family.
After reading about Clare I obviously had to read her twin’s story. Usually, I hate accidental pregnancy based romance novels. I know people might feel that all romance novels are unrealistic but those feel especially contrived to me.
So I was pleasantly surprised when the pregnancy became less of a plot point and more of a catalyst. Was it a bit jarring that someone younger than me was getting pregnant with a professional soccer players kid? Sure but just because it’s not my reality doesn’t mean it isn’t genuine. The relationship between Lia and Jude was so fun to watch unfold, even when it was sad, that I might have to change my tune on the trope. I mean, if there are more tattooed soccer players who do the work to become better in my reading future because of it, who am I to say no?

This series really is just not it for me. Idk why I had such a hard time connecting to this book. Like by the time the two mcs had their *SPOILER* third act breakup, I didn’t even realize we were far enough in the book for that… like I did not believe they were in love yet. I liked the overall premise but wish I felt more chemistry between the characters
This is an ARC review. All opinions are solely my own.
Floored by Karla Sorensen is book three in a standalone series. I had not read the first two books and thoroughly enjoyed this without knowing any back story. I have since gone and read the other two books.
Lia is studying abroad in England for her Master's degree as related to the Bronte sisters. A chance meeting in a rain storm at a pub with Jude and sparks are flying.
This is a sports, accidental pregnancy romance. There is family drama and fun on both sides of the romance. Jude and Lia take the reader through all of the emotions.
I liked this book so much I went and found the other books in the series. I can't wait to read more.

This one hurt a little bit in the middle, but the ending was swoon worthy. I’m not always a fan of the pregnancy trope, but this was very well executed. Lia and Jude did not disappoint.
