At Any Moment
Gaming the System, Book 3
By: Brenna Aubrey
Narrated by: Jason Clarke, Kirsten Leigh

What a couple! I love Mia and Adam. This is book 3 of their story, and it is amazing. It does not standalone, so make sure to listen to the first 2 before queuing this one up. Their journey has been tough. Made for each other, but stubbornness and tragedy keep them at arms length. Now is the time for their to work through their problems, learn to communicate and find out if they really are meant to be! Brenna Aubrey has outdone herself. I have been captivated by this couple. I think the relevant issues make the story real and the characters' reactions true to life. It broke my heart and healed it back to encompass all the love this couple has. With characters and stories like this, I will keep coming back to hear more!

Jason Clarke and Kirsten Leigh finish out their story with an emotional performance. These two are Adam and Mia and really bring out all the heart wrenching emotion of their story. Each has a way of articulating the personality of the character to our ears, building their person so we feel we "know" them. It was a wonderful experience listening to them.

I laughed and I cried. As frustrating as this couple is, it’s worth the read.

I finished this book and loved the storyline. The writing was amazing and really kept me intrigued throughout the whole of the book. The characters are so captivating and the conflict is so well written within the story. I love the whole book and it adds to the rest of the series. My issue was with the heroine and it seemed to grate on me through the book. She doesn't know whether she's coming or going and she really puts the hero through unnecessary work.

In the concluding book in the trilogy Adam and Mia have to face forces bigger than themselves. Now that Adam knows Mia is both pregnant and has cancer he has to try make her see that she needs to think of herself in this moment and not give up. He also has to be there for her, support her and love her all while getting over the betrayal that she caused and rebuild his trust in her.
Mia has to make a decision. Abort her baby and go through chemo or keep her baby and risk a greater chance of dying.
In this beautifully tragic book two people come together to survive. They have to fight forces and depend on each other, although there is still so much that is standing in their way.

I loved this story for many reasons but the main one was that it was realistic. Just because Adam and Mia were together again didn't mean that everything was automatically okay between them. They still fought, they still messed up and they still loved each other, all with that underlying hurt between them. It's beautiful to see love overcome so much in this story.
I must admit I cried a whole lot during this book but it is kind of a given. There is now way you can pick up this story and not cry.
Beautiful, heartbreaking and completely amazing.

I just couldn't handle the lack of emotional maturity anymore.

Continuing with my relisten of this series, and man, I forgot how gut-wrenching this book is. How I forgot, I don’t know.
Adam and Mia are such a fantastic couple that have a lot to deal with in this book. I love that even when they were breaking my heart and making me feel all the feels that there was also funny moments. I really did not like Jordan in this trilogy but by the end, I was ready to give him a maybe.

Kirsten Leigh is fabulous and taking nothing away from her but Jason Clarke absolutely stole the show with his emotional performance. I felt ALL the emotions.

I think I would've liked this book a whole lot more if Mia had decided to not end her pregnancy. Not because I'm against abortion or anything like that, I fully support women having the right to choose what to do with their bodies. But everything would have been so much more dramatic! The stakes would've been infinitely higher!
Mia could've gotten to 7 months (or maybe 6 and a half) before collapsing, getting an emergency c-section and ending up in a coma after a rushed first chemo session (or surgery and radiation? considering her cancer would've have been a whole lot worse by this point).
The baby would have to be rushed to the NICU. And there you have all this feels! A brand-new mother fighting for her life, a new-born that you don't know if he/she will survive, and a first time father, heartbroken and terrified of losing both the woman he loves and the only thing he might have left of her if she happens to die. Wouldn't THAT have been so much better?
Plus, Adam would've been a witness to Mia deteriorating because of her choice to keep the baby. So you would get all that impotence and helplessness mixed up with his emotions of seeing the baby for the first time, feeling it move inside Mia... He would instinctively love the baby because it's his kid, but at the same time hate it for what it's doing to the love of his life. And most importantly, he would have to deal with all this overwhelming emotions once the baby was born, all by himself.
OMG I wanna read a book like that! I just got myself really excited!
So, yeah, you see why I was disappointed when Mia terminated her pregnancy.
From that point on, it was a lot of depressing moments, wordless fights, ignoring of mayor problems... the usual for Adam and Mia.
What I have to admit I really loved was the sort of game he made her to tell her how he felt about everything. That was unbelievable heartbreaking and at the same time totally sweet and adorable.
I wonder if we'll get to see Mia pregnant, or their kids in Jordan's book...
