Davi is a delight. That was a hilarious romp through isekai D&D style. Loved it. It should be interesting to see where the story goes in the next book.

I liked the story of this book but there were definitely times where it felt like it was trying too hard to be shocking. Like there were things that the main character added in her thoughts that were just needlessly vulgar. I didn’t mind some of it but there was a few times where it just felt like it trying too hard to be edgy. I really did like the story and the plot.
I highly suggest listening to the audiobook narrated by Jeanette Illidge. It helped me understand the inner thought part a lot more.

DID NOT FINISH: 10%

A tenth of the way into the book and I was not interested in the plot or the characters. The book is front-loaded with an enormous amount of graphic violence and sexual content, which did not let up as I read. There is a content warning, but some content is different from a constant stream. Moreover, the violence and sexual content felt largely gratuitous, not particularly contributing to the plot or character development.

The protagonist, Davi, read like a character developed by an "edgy" teenager, hoping to shock their parents and teachers with an outrageous personality, focused on violent and oversexualized commentary loosely attributed to past traumas. In spite of claims that she can't remember anything of her former life on earth, she's full of pop culture references.

The book has an interesting premise: A protagonist caught in a repeating time loop isekai (originally Japanese subgenre featuring a protagonist who is transported or reborn into a new, often fantastical, world) decides to play against the "rules" in hopes of finding a way out. The sexual commentary, constant violence, and fourth wall breaking may have been an effort to do a fantasy Deadpool character, as other readers have suggested. It's just a shame that, a tenth of the way in the plot wasn't going anywhere interesting and the protagonist was so shallow and unlikeable.

This may be a fun book for someone, but it definitely wasn't for me.

Fun, fast paced and just a good time

Enjoyed it. Davi the wannabe Dark Lord is quirky and easy to root for, though at the same time wildly oversexed and overly into pop culture references. Always nice to see the "chosen hero" trope flipped onto its head.

A light, easy, and enjoyable read, though I think if you're looking to explore Django Wexler The Thousand Names is still the best place to start.
