Solid 3 star

This is the final book in the Cursebreakers series, and it followed the two previous books in style, themes and plot. Lilith is still kicking, which of course sows chaos for our main characters. The character development isn't all that great in this book, except for maybe Grey's character. I was expecting something a bit more dramatic to happen throughout the entire book, but despite the lack of that, it was still very on-brand and it was a good continuation and ending to the series. The ending is quite satisfying, which I enjoyed, but I would've liked Rhen to have had a better conclusion with Harper. Just saying.

Well hell. This one is going to live in my thoughts for awhile. So so so good. I get frustrated reading series of long books with a single story arc. Cursebreakers 1 and 2 had their own stories that did resolve within the novels, but the big story happens across all three - and I get impatient. But the payoff here was...worth it.

Kemmerer did it again. The worldbuilding is fantastical enough to be immersive and rich, but not so involved that the reader can't keep track of all the different types of creatures, places, and powers. It's just enough. And (not a spoiler - literally opens book #1) having characters dropped into the fantasy world from real-world Washington, DC was fun and grounded a POV for the reader.

The romances were well-developed. Everyone has (realistically) complicated feelings and impossible choices, and I enjoyed being annoyed by them, cheering for them, sad for them, mad at them...

And the sweetest satisfaction was that perhaps the most real "love stories" weren't, in the end, the romances, but the family and friendships.

Men men.

I really enjoyed the first book of the series. It was a fresh take on an old story and I found it compelling. The second book threw me for a whirl, but I ended up enjoying Grey and Lia Mara as the main characters.

This third book didn’t hook me quite like the others. I felt like it did a great deal of recap, reminding me of things I already knew. I also felt like I enjoyed Lia Mara and Grey’s relationship more. I hoped Harper and Rhen would really find common ground, but Rhen still feels a little insufferable.

Also, Lilith as a character was frustrating to see again. I get that she’s the antithesis of Grey, but she felt like a one-dimensional, cop-out villain.

Overall, I enjoyed the series. The end was a little anticlimactic, but still a good story.

I feel like this ended realistically, but also with a lot of bittersweetness. To me, it feels like there's a lot left in the world, especially with Rhen and Harper, so I'm hoping for a spinoff/continuation. There are a lot of loose ends and ties that just started to become interesting.

Also justice for Jake and Noah, who deserved a lot more page time.

It's a satisfactory ending...that doesn't quite feel like an ending just yet.

This wasn't exactly my favorite of the 3 books in this series but I still enjoyed it just the same and I for one will not break my series collection. It was still fun to read and yes frustrating at times but good frustrations. A good ending to a good series :).
