Such a fun reread! I’ve had the movie on in the background a lot recently and decided to revisit the book. I forgot how different it was but still really enjoyed it.

Movie was better

A case where the movie is a lot better than the book. Andrea is a frustrating main character and the plot of the movie was much better. I (like most people) really enjoy the movie but wasn’t a huge fan of the book. I guess it’s the magic of Meryl Streep.

I listened to it last summer while pregnant and it was an excellent book for that. Andi's constant self-righteousness grated on my nerves after a while and I definitely thought it made a better movie than book...which isn't something I often will say! But overall fun, although as books go, I think I liked [book:The Nanny Diaries] better.

Any ideas what Miranda's carbon footprint is like?

I overall enjoyed it but sometimes the writing wasn't the best. In one of the earlier chapters, we are informed that 'Miranda was completely unaware' that Andrea had been hired and her predecessor promoted, but directly above that statement, Miranda had called Andrea's phone AND said her name correctly? Even if she was calling the previous assistants phone, she still knew it was Andrea that would answer. I enjoyed the drama and the comedy, but some of those details in the writing just ruined it for me.
