The Extraordinary Journey of the Fakir Who Got Trapped in an IKEA Wardrobe by Romain Puértolas

Well it's safe to say this is a quick read haha :)
This was an easy, funny read, but it did have some social commentary, which was interesting. Although I did think the names and things were a bit racist at times, I did still enjoy this :)

By no means a masterpiece, but a very enjoyable, light read. Funny, unexpected and heartwarming!

I really enjoyed this tale which so aptly portrays the migrant experience, the arbitrariness of borders, and the broken immigration systems globally. It uses humor to explore the way we treat each other and how we create desperate circumstances for others that drive them to do desperate things. A true expose on how interconnected we are, and how the web of human relationships defy national borders.

Beautifully written story. The narrative was easy to read and quite enjoyable with the added "pronunciations" in brackets that were always a laugh. The story itself was fun and entertaining and kept me interested and engaged. The different locations that Ajatashatru travels to and the experiences he has there really prove that anyone can change their lives just by being themselves and trying new things.
Overall: 4/5 stars and definitely would recommend to everyone!

man nav lielas pieredzes ar franču literatūru, taču lasot šo grāmatu radās iespaids, ka man turpmāk radīsies problēmas ar franču humoru. grāmata tiek pasludināta kā brīnišķīga un smieties mudinoša, taču manī neradās sajūta, ka grāmatā kaut uz mirkli kāds būtu jokojis.
manī īpašas emocijas neizraisīja, taču iespējams, ja lasītu, zvilnot pludmalē, teiktu ko citu.
