This was another awesome addition to the series. Although I sort of wish it had started off with a view into the first time Eve caught Dave, but oh well, it was still a worthwhile read. I don't generally read the in-between books, but I'm glad I read this one.

Another case solved by the feisty detective and her team.

This time the identity of the killer is known, since he is someone Eve helped put behind bars who managed to escape and now has a grudge against her. It took her a long time to follow the thread that ultimately lead to him and I felt a bit impatient with her since it's one of the first things I thought of, but she did a great job as usual.

I still love Roarke in all his unrealistic glory, as well as Peabody and her sly humor.

Looking forward to listening to the next book in the series, [b:Conspiracy in Death|172691|Conspiracy in Death (In Death, #8)|J.D. Robb|https://i.gr-assets.com/images/S/compressed.photo.goodreads.com/books/1305124508l/172691._SY75_.jpg|3093655].

In Death Series Novella, Book #7.5

This is a perfect Novella. She fits everything in, but doesn't feel rushed or squeezed for time. It has all the elements in the series and I really enjoyed this one as much as I would enjoy the full length novels in the series. It is a perfect mix of the detective/crime aspects and the relationship aspects of the series. This novella really shows how the series is in a quick, but thorough way.
If you have read the series this fits in perfectly in the timeline where it is and is highly enjoyable. As the series was being published this would have been the perfect "fix" while waiting on the next full length Novel.
If you have not read any of this series, you wouldn't be completely lost. You wouldn't get some of the references or know the relationships back stories though so you may not feel the same pull at this part of the books. Yet, it is written in a way you can still appreciate the characters and their relationships.

The In Death series is my cuddle read. I so enjoy this series. The characters are written so well. Love the relationship between Eve and Roarke. This is about a series killer that escapes from prison and comes after Eve Dallas and some of the others involved in putting him away. It takes place over the Christmas holidays.

It’s Eve’s first Christmas morning with Roarke and she’s called to a homicide. The problem is she knows the victim and with the clues left behind, she knows the killer. She’s already put David Palmer away once. Now he’s escaped and he has a hit list that includes Eve and Dr. Charlotte Mira. Eve’s determined to get to him first.

This is on my Christmas shelf because early in the tale there is an exchange of gifts between Peabody and Eve. There’s also a discussion of Christmas tradition and all that Eve and Roarke didn’t have. This is just as much a New Year’s tale, though, since that’s the deadline from the killer.

There is some great give and take as Eve grapples with how important Mira is to her and everything she will do to keep her safe. There are some pointed moments from Roarke about Eve not accepting that there are people who feel the same about her. It’s very hard for Eve to understand that she owes them the same courtesy (in this case, doing everything she can to be protected) that she expects from them.

I very much enjoyed this novella. I could dissect every interaction in the book because I love these characters so much. Robb/Roberts has done a brilliant job in creating real people who live, breathe and grow, as people should.

Decent novella. Wouldn't have bought the story, but worth the short library wait. Was nice to see the relationship development between Eve and Dr. Mira.

As always a top-notch book. We get to see a lot of development with Mira and Eve's relationship, which was fantastic. A very short book when compared to the rest in the series yet the author manages to pack everything you'd find in her Novels into this short Novella without making it seem cramped. Wonderfully done.

A lovely friend of mine surprised me with this book, and I have to say...its nice to return to the world of Eve and Roarke. Reading this made me realize how much I miss them! I think I'll have to re-read this series one of these days.
