I did not predict this would end in an orgy, but it did

Football and well other balls makes for a MMF Menage Sports Romance and a great one at that. Kane did an amazing job on the first book in Brimingham Rebels series. I love a good menage but this one is making the list of ones to read again. Like MMF? Like Football? Grab this book today!

I was given a fee copy of this book by Netgalley in exchange for an honest review.

I love sports romance and Shayla Black, 2 of the selling points of the book blurb. There was a lot of smut (good) but little plot (not good). The book was hot but repetitive. I felt like half of it was the same chapter over and over and over. I felt I was struggling to stay with the book at time.

I had so much hope for the book too. Hot cover, football and sex. But the weak plot hurt it.

I am going to read book 2 of the series just to see if it gets better.

I definitely wasn't expecting a MMF menage when I began reading Broken Play. It was a surprise to expect something else in addition to football, which was rather fun!

Marian Treadwell is an assistant coach wanting to break out of her father's shadow and prove herself within the testosterone fuelled world of NFL league. However, she's in Birmingham with a team that needs as much help as it can to even get a wild card entry into the play-offs. It has been a gamble moving here and her reputation is on the line for recommending a player that is currently uncooperative, which has effected the morale of the rest of the team. And then there are her own personal issues which are holding her back too. Can she turn her fortunes around?

Cass Zielinski and his best friend Beau Perez are team mates who have a controversial reputation. Both are in the twilight of their playing careers and Cass hopes to impress enough to gain a front office position on retirement. Both are physically attracted to the new assistant coach as they regularly share a woman. Will she want to be part of that scene? They both hope for that and so much more.

Cass and Beau's mutual attraction for Marian acts as a catalyst for both men to explore their own relationship which moves from platonic to physical love, whilst both desire to include her in all aspects of their life. She's open to a physical relationship but something is holding her back to agree to a more permanent arrangement. The key is the new un-cooperative player on the team and he knows her secret.

The award for the character with the most vivid imagination goes to Cass Zielinksi, who comes up with a completely OTT proposal for Marian to work through her fears and for Danny Smith to become integrated into the team. It is kinky and HOT and oh so unexpected!

As a sports theme novel, I would have liked more “on the field” action to at least justify the team's unique “bonding” session to balance all the hot sexy scenes. But overall this was a fun and entertaining and I've found a new author to follow in the process.

I have to confess that this book wasn’t really what I expected and because of that, it was hard for me to know how to rate the book.

Broken Play focuses on Marian, an assistant coach for a newer NFL team, and two players Cass and Beau. The three of them end up forming a unique relationship while also trying to get the team to gel at minicamp. I liked the premise of the book. The idea of a female assistant coach in the NFL is a cool one and her falling in love with not one, but two players on her team pushes the boundaries.

The sexy times between Marian, Cass, and Beau and incredibly hot, but it seems like things move almost too quickly between them. It also seemed like once the three main characters began their sexual relationship, the plot development of the story took a back seat.

I feel like this book had potential to be really good, but the story got side tracked by the sexy time.

Thanks Netgalley for a copy to read and review.

Ménage books are always so decadent, but this book took things a bit further than my comfort zone would allow. Orgies, and M/M feelings really aren't my cup of tea. The book starts out with Marian, she knows the captain and another guy on the team are really into ménage. Cass and Beau play together on and off the field with more than just a ball. Sometimes a female. Several situations indicate that they are in love with each other even before they get to play with Marian. That made me lose interest quick. I like a bit of alpha with my ménage and while it had its moments, they were overshadowed. I could comment about other situations in the book but those were my hard points, and it made it hard to enjoy the read. Three stars for entertainment!

I'm not sure what to say about this story. I had a hard time connecting with these characters and the story itself but the steamy scenes for most of this book were really hot. They were MMF and really steamy then towards the end it just kind of lost me. What went from MMF ends up going to
Spoiler MMMMMF which really didn't fit into the story in my opinion even with Marian's history
This book just didn't work for me and I don't think I would read anymore of the books in this series.

I had a hard time connecting with the characters and didn't know how to feel about the two friends relationship with each other. I tried liking it especially with my love of football but just had a hard time getting a good connection with them. *ARC received from publisher via Netgalley in exchange for an honest review.
