I loved the stories in this book but I was looking for more.
Interesting to see the scientific debate regarding each aspect of endurance. A lot is still unknown or unproven.
Goes a little deep for what I'm looking for but would be a fascinating read for those who enjoy running/endurance races and want to go deep into the science and opinions regarding each factor (fuel, hydration, mental, etc)

an interesting listen; i was interested in the epistemological approaches in exercise science, as well as the physiological results, especially given that my dad does research in this area and we chat about it a lot. i wish i had a hard copy to use for references. there's some interesting discussion of military research and (arctic) expeditions in here as well. makes me wonder about opportunities for statistical consulting on this kind of research project -- 'endure' nicely combines a broad array of research results into a coherent narrative, but it does not investigate the quality of the original studies themselves, some of which i suspect are p-hacky and dubious as hell, given what i've already seen of the exercise science on elite athletes world
One of the few books which does not try to force any ideology and instead decided to assess the argument from different point of view. Refreshing read.
I listened to this and I think I would have gotten more out of it if I would have read the book.. but some really good, interesting thoughts on endurance
How far can the human body go? What are it’s limits? Bringing a wealth of research in sports science to this book, you’re closer to finding an answer than ever before.
Ultra marathons... week long cycles... multiple mountain climbs... or searching for the elusive (at the time of publishing) two-hour marathon; this book is a great journey through these adventures.
As a keen runner, there is loads of practical ideas that I’ll be taking forward... and lots of others that I’m happy others are taking forward instead! Haha

An amazing read. Very informative. All details are backed up with scientific evidence and have varying perspective. It is astounding to learn how interconnected the mind and body are when humans push themselves to the end of their limits. A must read for all athletes, coaches, and individuals interested in human kinetics.
