I loved this book. It was exactly what I needed right now—something light and fun, but still emotionally satisfying. I adored Lavinia; she’s smart, she’s funny, and she’s forthright. I knew Thaddeus from the previous books and was happy to see him loosen up a little. My favorite thing about this book is that the couple *actually talked to each other about their problems.* When Lavinia wasn’t sexually satisfied, she initiated a conversation about that fact, and together they discussed how to fix the problem. This is unusual in historical romance, but it shouldn’t be!

I was not a fan of the previous book in the series, but this one brought me back around. Now I’m really hoping Jane’s story will be next!

Thanks to the publisher for providing an eARC via NetGalley. All opinions are my own.

I enjoyed the way the chapters were broken up with snipits of the fictional book the main character was writing but other than that I found the story kind of boring. I didn't really care about the characters and that that Thad was much more interesting in the other books in this series.

This book wasn't for me. I didn't like the characters. They were clueless. The sex scenes were awkward. I got bored very quickly.

The Duke was, oh what to say, rigid, stiff, former military, in want of a wife. A proper, quiet wife.

Lavinia is the life of the party. She also writes romance novels under a male name. Not proper, not quiet.

Thad wants to marry Lavinia's sister Jane, Lavinia thinks that is a stupid idea and does everything to stop it. Boom, marriage of convenience. And both are unhappy. Thad missed out on his proper wife, Lavinia wants more (though his thigh muscles are to die for.)

They argue, they fall in love without knowing it, and a very realistic for time. It is awkward, he things it was great, she was all this is it? Yes no magical orgasms for everyone and best time ever. They had to understand each other.

Oh and there are excerpts from her book too. I liked those sprinkled in.

It was nice to see these two fall in love. I enjoyed the book.

I liked the narrator, she did have good distinct voices for everyone, though her voice for Thad was very manly indeed

I enjoyed my first Megan Frampton book, had an unusual story with the heroine clearly stating that her husband was not satifisying her in bed and gave him instructions to improve. That part of the story was very good. The misunderstanding theme between them did grow tiresome and I feel that was really the only conflict. Also I did not like the narrator's voicing of the main characters. Made them sound too old--not the worst narration but did detract from the story.

* I received an eARC from NetGalley in exchange for an honest review. *

Thaddeus is recently titled duke that dutifully sets out to find a wife to give him an heir. He sets his sights on Jane who checks off all the boxes on his list. Unfortunately, her sister Lavinia is having none of it and keeps interrupting his chances of courting Jane who is in love with someone else. When they are found in a compromising situation, Thaddeus is forced to marry Lavinia to protect both of their honors. While neither are particularly thrilled about the situation, they agree to an arrangement that brings them together in bed but no where else.

What I liked:
- The sex positivity! Lavinia demands a more pleasurable sex life and Thaddeus is willing to hear her out and work with her.

- I really enjoyed the relationship between Lavinia and her siblings. They are so open and honest with each other and protect each other.

What needed work:
- The conflict entirely hinges on miscommunication which could have easily been resolved when they were first negotiating. It also felt out of character for Lavinia to not speak up for herself from the beginning when she doesn't have a problem doing that for other issues like sex.

- I really did not feel the love between these two characters. Sure, they had fun in bed and got used to the other being around but that does not equate to love. They barely spent time with each other outside of the bedroom so I didn't really feel that connection. I personally need to feel that emotional connection to really root for and believe that a couple is in love.

- I thought it was really interesting that Lavinia was a writer but it really only came into play at the beginning and at the end. I would have love to see it more throughout the story other than the inserts.

Overall, I liked this book. It was enjoyable as I was reading it but it probably will not take up any real estate in my brain. However, I am definitely interested in picking up more from this author because the sex scenes and sex positivity were great.

It was cute! Some bits were unbelievable, but I didn't mind. I loved the pieces taken from Pride and Prejudice as it's one of my favorite books. Buddy read this with a friend and it was fun to giggle over <3
